This is a cover of a song by Slade: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merry_Xmas_Everybody apparently The Cure played it at the end of a concert in London in 1987.

Ya gotta love a song that starts "Santa Claus / Suck my balls" and only gets better from there.

It's the holiday season!!! Time to listen to seasonal music from ICP:

  1. "Santa's a Fat Bitch"
  2. "Red Christmas"
  3. "Santa Killas"
  4. "It's Coming"

Some kind of federation problem? I think editing it in any way sends another "federate me" message but idk?

[–] Sergio@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (3 children)

hey FWIW it looks like the Saw Whet comment for voting didn't federate to piefed.social.... https://piefed.social/c/superbowl/p/1571316/open-ooty-round-28-saw-whet-vs-screech#post_replies

cross-posted from: !diy@slrpnk.net - check out that community for various projects and building/fixing stuff. In this case they were going for a LOTR/Mordor vibe but totally nailed a gothic aesthetic.

I felt like some kind of “what would a Christmas tree in Mordor look like” vibe. So I made one. My first attempt at a tiny bit of “terrain building”, with a very limited colour palette: black and grey.

#KDVCUWatch (Kenneth del Vecchio Cinematic Universe)

I'm pretty sure that's banned under the Geneva Convention. In the US, it'd be considered "cruel and unusual punishment" and thus unconstitutional.

feature presentation for #JuggaloWatchParty

Surprisingly there are a couple different movies involving juggalos that are not too bad (i.e. more "independent" than "b-movie"):

As well as ICP's B-movies

And several documentaries from various sources

A lot of those are on Tubi in the US, fwiw.

I was looking up details of this movie trying to figure out how such a terrible, terrible film could have been made, and found out that the clown/dream/theater clips are all from a different movie called Joker's Poltergeist: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3894558/

Yes. Or the only words I've said aloud were Insane Clown Posse lyrics.

In 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu and Ken Masters are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don't, it's GAME OVER!

The trailer's in French, but it's pretty obvious what's going on.

Nah, lead scientist spent like 5 hours total helping the grad student on the paper's research. They probably spent more time getting the funding to begin with.

I love papers like this tho, one was my first citation, no-one else wanted to present it.

Simple solution: log the kid into your neighbor's wifi.

The obvious comparison is Napoleon Dynamite since it has Jon Heder in it and a cast of quirky characters. The trailer makes it look at least moderately amusing. Tho apparently this movie went for a couple years without a distributor, after showing at a film festival a couple years back. And it looks like now it's only playing at one theater in LA? JustWatch says it's streaming on Amazon and Plex. Doesn't seem to be legally available outside the US. Anyway this movie is obviously bombing as a quirky indy, the only question is does it have what it takes to be a cult B-movie.

"Sometimes the crazy thing and the right thing are the same thing." Foggy Bottom Pictures has revealed a new official trailer for their kooky comedy film titled Tapawingo made by director Dylan K. Narang. After sitting on hold for a few years, this funky indie comedy is finally being released on VOD this December. It premiered at the 2023 Virginia & Dances With Films Festivals but was never released until now. Tapawingo stars Jon Heder, best known as Napoleon Dynamite, channeling that same quirkiness for this character. An oddball becomes the bodyguard for a misfit teenager and finds himself in the crosshairs of the town's family of bullies. Heder plays Nate – when he discovers Oswalt is the subject of relentless bullying at school, he assembles a team of misfits forming an unconventional security detail. The cast includes Jay Pichardo, Kim Matula, Sawyer Williams, George Psarras, Paul Psarras, Amanda Bearse, Chad Dukes, John Ratzenberger, along with Gina Gershon and Billy Zane.

Funny thing is, most trad goths will tell ya that to be goth all you gotta do is listen to the music, you don't have to dress or act any certain way.

This is different from the one posted last month.

Don't ever forget the true meaning of Thanksgiving:

And I saw a beast rising out of the sea with ten horns and seven heads
And a blasphemous name upon its head
And the beast that I saw was like a leopard
Its feet were like a bear's
And its mouth was like a lion's mouth

And to it the dragon gave his power, and his throne, and great authority
One of his heads had a mortal wound
But it seemed to have a mortal wound that was healed
And the whole earth followed the beast with wonder

I'm kinda into reading about military history so I thought I'd like it, but the writers weren't very good. Specifically, the worldbuilding was OK, the characters were OK, but the plotting was clumsy.

According to sumodb, Meisei fought on Day 10 after 9 days of absence: https://sumodb.sumogames.de/Rikishi.aspx?r=11946

The November Sumo tourney day 9 (of 15) just finished a couple hours ago! Like last tourney I plan to post something here around the beginning, middle, and end of the tourney. You are encouraged to post whenever else you want!

Here's how you can watch the tourney:

Live / Replay:

  • try searching on twitch, there are usually at least 3 different streamers providing live video feeds with English commentary, and it's fun to have a community to chat with in real time. The top Makuuchi matches start around 3am US Eastern Time though. At least one of the streamers does replays all day, usually of the entire day (including lower ranks).

Video Clips:

  • youtuber DonDon makes a daily video of the "best 10" matches listed in English with replays including on-screen English analysis; those are listed here: https://www.youtube.com/@dondonsumo2/videos Besides the "best 10" of the top Makuuchi tier, DonDon also makes a "best 5" of the second Juryo tier.
  • NHK makes a daily video that has all the top-tier Makuuchi bouts with English spoken commentary. This video is replayed on their web site several times during the following day (kind of like an old-fashioned TV station); you can see the schedule here: https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/tv/ look for "Grand Sumo highlights." After a day of scheduled replays, the video is put up for "on demand" access here: https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/tv/sumo/ and (possibly with additional delay) here: https://www.youtube.com/@NHKWORLDJAPAN/videos
  • NHK immediately posts individual videos of each bout listed in Japanese with Japanese commentary. They are also re-doing their Japanese website... I THINK that to see the latest videos you look here: https://www.nhk.jp/g/ts/Z8WRRJ9K96/blog/bl/pm1VNbJpWQ/bp/pExrRxao2y/ and click on the topmost link that says "NHK ONE", it should look like this:

Click "I understand" to acknowledge that you're not in Japan (lel) and then scroll down til you see this button:

it might look like this:

click on that and you should see all the videos?!

  • JSA immediately posts individual videos of each of the highest-ranked 10+ matches listed in Japanese with no commentary, here: https://www.youtube.com/@sumo-video/videos
  • For the listings in Japanese, try automated translations if there's a lot of text. Alternately, look for something like: 9月14日 which in this case refers to the 9th month and the 14th day (September 14th). Automated translation doesn't work that well on sumotori names, but this is a great opportunity to learn them by sight! (The JSA web site has pictures of them all.)
