It’s because the im isn’t a prefix but part of the word. (It was originally spelt empeche)

It is, check the OED.

So it’s been five months since @tom@feddit.uk last posted and two months since he contacted @emperor@feddit.uk

It’s seems like nothing much has happened and the plans for a replacement were briefly resurrected then shutdown.

I guess we’ve all moved on.

Occasionally getting this error when opening mlem. Going to Communities and tapping subscribed fixes it.

I popped over to Reddit for the first time since third party apps were cruelly shut down. It’s clear that Reddit has sunk to new lows. Obviously trolling and a marked decrease in the quality of content

Can anyone suggest a solution to this. I contacted beeper on the email address given in the App Store listing but have had no response or even acknowledgement.

I can log in using my Google Account, have subscribed and have given permissions but when it comes to the phone registration stage I always get the error “Something went wrong please check your network settings or try again later”

What I’ve done to troubleshoot.

Checked network settings Checked for update Cleared cache and storage Uninstalled and re-installed Tried a different phone Tried SIMs from different providers (Vodafone, O2, Lebara)

I’m seeing other reports of this in the UK and Ireland , so suspect it’s just poor code. But does anyone have any more ideas?

Im afraid Liftoff! has not been actively developed for a while and is incompatible with the latest versions of Lemmy.

The first few episodes Mariner was written as hyperactive and overbearing to the point of being off-putting.

But they responded to feedback and wrote her differently going forward and seem to have made some edits to earlier episodes.

It might be worth seeing some later episodes once it got settled in.

Every single person who I’ve known or seen with a foldable Samsung has a prominent fold (enough to lift the top layer of the screen) or crack.

The tech just isn’t there yet.

Some questions (lemmy.world)
submitted 8 months ago by Prking@lemmy.world to c/feddituk@feddit.uk

A couple of weeks have passed, the dust seems to have settled but there are a few important questions remaining. These give a little concern for the future.

Is there more than one admin able to update the instance?

Does someone other than Tom have access to the server in case it goes down or has a problem?

Are backups being taken and if so does more than one person have access to them?

We have a friend who does this. To the point of bleeding. It is a recognised medical compulsive disorder condition (a desire for perfect skin so you want to remove the imperfections which makes it worse and so on)

Please do see a doctor. They won’t think badly of you and can help.

I don’t know why you are being downvoted. I was talking about this with another dog owner.

People haven’t trained their dogs to walk at heel.

You often see owners being almost dragged along pavements with the dogs on the road side.

Dogs on a long leash while near a road or people.

Etc etc

I didn’t enjoy firefish, it was buggy and seemed to have a lot of gatekeeping.

If you try to use iCloud Keychain, the login form doesn’t get filled in.

I’m much older than you and quite like the word which is why I used it.

I also think that sort of gatekeeping of words is another sign of the decay of society. People used to enjoy new words being coming into use but now they are ‘dumb’

It’s not cromulent and doesn’t embiggen the soul.

[-] Prking@lemmy.world 14 points 9 months ago

Also, an old person. I think the difference this time is twofold.

The people in charge are clearly crazy and in some cases unwell. The general enshitification of life. Ordinary every day things are much worse but more expensive.

I agree it won’t end but society as we knew it ten years ago (a hope that the future would be better, the big problems could be tackled) is finished.

That seems typical of the selfish nature of the world today (not your fault). But in ten years time you’ll have forgotten some of the details. In twenty years time some of the people in the photo won’t be here anymore and you’ll enjoy looking at them. In 40 years time your memory will be hazy. In 80 years time you’ll be a memory, someone’s old relation they only remember from photos.

Hi, seems like a change to authorisation has broken backwards compatibility. Avelon isn’t able to login to instances running 0.19 which is “just around the corner” according to Lemmy devs.
