That makes sense. Regarding your comment re:

“You could definitely simplify an OS like Linux to be more console oriented

I keep seeing videos on YouTube of people installing Ubuntu on their PS5’s - do you think this will gain traction with Sony and Microsoft and allow consumers to install a Linux distro officially like how Steam has SteamOS?

I also notice that when there is a discussion or video regarding modding a console, it’s to “preserve” its longevity rather than having a practical use.

What would be an open platform for consoles?

That’s not what I’ve heard, people on Reddit have been praising its performance saying it’s close to PS5 performance; but even then, a PS4 Pro level performance for a handheld is pretty good in my books.

I genuinely believe the switch 2 is the best bang for your buck, especially now with the way things are looking with hardware price increases. The performance is very close to PS5 (I’ve heard ranges between PS4 Pro and PS5) whilst having the capability to output to 4K when docked. For $629.96 CAD (or $699.96 CAD for the bundle), you absolutely cannot beat that price.

I’m not glazing Nintendo. Xbox Series S is $449.96 CAD including a controller and 512gb SSD, but you’d be sacrificing a lot of performance (it’s funny when they say it can go “up to 120fps” when I know from experience it absolutely does not). PlayStation 5 is $749.96 CAD for the digital edition. Looking at my options knowing what kind of performance the Switch 2 has, I would rather pay the $629.96 CAD because it has one feature that cannot be beat; it can be played handheld or docked. If you want an Xbox handheld, you’d have to look into handheld PC’s like the ASUS ROG Ally or the Steam deck. If you want a PS5 handheld you’d need a PS5 and a $319.96 CAD PlayStation Portal. For me, the price to performance of the Switch 2, and the features that come with it, is why I prefer the Switch 2.

I made the decision to purge my Reddit account - bulk deleted everything I’ve commented and posted, and deleted my account. I don’t like the direction they’re headed in. When I first started using it, discussion was 100% encouraged; if you looked hard enough and tried hard enough, you could get into deep conversations or learn something you hadn’t known before. Nowadays, though, anything you post is subject to Reddit’s keyboard warriors. Instead of actually discussing things, they name call and go through your Reddit history to find something to make fun of you for. Hell, did you know even if you had your Reddit account set to private, people could download extensions to see it?

I’m assuming this also applies to Consoles as well: Sony removed purchased movies from people’s Sony Pictures Core app. I wonder if, or when, they’ll decide to do the same to games.

If it does come to that: what are our options as console gamers (other than piracy)? Buying physical discs?

I would love to see data from the previous Iran war(s) and compare the stats to this one.

I’m pretty sure they are used together; TOR to access the dark web and the VPN to keep the feds off you.

Microsoft also claims that the Series S can play games “up to 120fps”. We all know that’s the furthest from the truth.

My takeaway is to take what Valve say with a grain of salt and watch YouTube videos on performance before dropping money on it.

I wish I had knowledge in coding and programming. I find it fascinating how someone could grab code from something and add whatever they want for the greater good. No matter how hard I try, it doesn’t click. All my brain power goes towards musical knowledge.

I have absolutely no experience in coding, programming, or anything to do with how Linux works and operates - I was easily able to install CachyOS onto my laptop removing windows completely. Reading comprehension is difficult if one isn’t used to reading wikis, however it’s pretty self explanatory; if a monkey like me can do it, anyone can.
