Just FYI, the National Post is a member of the Post Media group of American propaganda outlets.

;tldw Rightwing nutjob makes a video about some rich guy's legal battle with New York bureaucracy. Woman fell on the sidewalk, sued the owner and city, and the city claimed not liable as it is dudes property. Property lines reinforce this so no schenanigans here. Dude builds a fence extending out onto sidewalk and street claiming it is his right as property owner and now the city wants to fine him for the fence (which it probably can due to public sidewalk accessibility laws).

IMO this is the equivalent of other rich assholes doing shit like fencing to the water line on their property to prevent public access to a community beach.

You have no idea. I've seen this specific plane at my local airfield which rarely handles planes larger than Beechcraft. It was literally a must-see local attraction for the 3 weeks it was here. Crazy huge.

Copying code directly without permission is a copyright violation.

Mimicking a patented process is also grounds for a lawsuit.

That said, you can make products that have similar functions so long as you aren't copying too closely. For example, Lemmy vs. Reddit. Both are social media platforms allowing posting and up/downvoting. But the nuts and bolts are significantly different.

Some music to listen to while reading the article.

This is analysis and breakdown from a retired fighter pilot that provides more information than techno music.

Genius. Let's use a weapon that specifically destroys the one thing that makes Taiwan truly valuable.

Your parents are right. It is absolutely a skill that you should learn. The 'times have changed' crowd just haven't stepped up to the new level of difficulty.

It is not wrong to strike up a conversation with a stranger so long as the setting is appropriate and you pick up on the clues they give on whether the interaction is welcome or not. That is the skill you're learning.

Whether it is technically 'necessary' is debatable, but it is antisocial to flat out avoid doing so by definition.

She said she crossed the border into the U.S. on Friday morning with her husband to grab some lunch and groceries.

I can think of other more appropriate words to describe them than simply 'stupid traveller'.

Knock it down, one way or another.

Katheryn Speck said she used to be a Canadian nationalist, travelled the world with a maple leaf on her backpack and once lived in Quebec so she could become fluently bilingual.

But on Saturday she was among hundreds of people who rallied at the Alberta Legislature to support separation from Canada, with many in the crowd waving Alberta flags and a few even displaying the U.S. Stars and Stripes.

"I thought it was a beautiful, fantastic country. But now I'm so disappointed. I'm literally crushed that we'll never be represented in this country and there's never a chance of changing the government," Speck said.

Earlier this week, Premier Danielle Smith's government proposed legislation that would lower the bar for holding a referendum.

“Our position is very simple for all countries traveling to Russia on May 9: We cannot be held responsible for what happens on the territory of the Russian Federation,” Zelensky said during a briefing with journalists. “They are responsible for your safety. We will not provide any guarantees, because we do not know what Russia might do on those dates.”

Zelensky cautioned that Russia could orchestrate provocations, including “arsons, explosions, or other actions,” and then attempt to blame Ukraine. He said Kyiv has advised visiting delegations accordingly.

Cross-posted from "Tesla sales continue to crash in Europe despite new Model Y" by @MicroWave@lemmy.world in !world@lemmy.world

Tesla’s sales in several key European markets continue to decline sharply in Q2 2025, despite the new Model Y, which was blamed for disappointing sales in the first quarter, now being available.

Over the past couple of years, Tesla’s sales in Europe have been declining.

In 2024, Tesla delivered 11% fewer vehicles in Europe compared to 2023 – despite having ramped up production at its Gigafactory Berlin, where it produces Model Ys for the European market.

While this was already a bad sign for Tesla, sales started to decline at a much sharper rater in 2025 compared to an already bad 2024.

In a presentation at the University of Windsor, he urged them to share their stories publicly to show how Trump's trade war is hurting both Canadians and Americans.
