Hi, I'm sure you didn't intend it this way, but coming into an LGBTQ community in a post about trans people potentially having their legal documents confiscated to say this kind of thing kind of looks like you're just taking a fat dump on the people hurt by this admin, who overwhelmingly voted against it. Just thought you'd want to know.

Those are handled at the state level, so it’ll probably depend on whether you’re in a red state trying to roll out similar policies ASAP or not. If you’re in a blue state or there have been no announced changes I’d try to get it changed sooner rather than later.
True, it’s just a huge blow because updated federal ID documents were an easy fall back for trans people living in states where they can’t update their state level documents, for whatever reason.
If you haven’t already updated your federal documents then it is probably too late. At least until these shits are gone.
It’s possible that the agent that did this did so understanding that they would face no consequences for it, regardless of whether it was true or not. Which means regardless of whether it’s official policy, it may be something trans people want to take into account before handing over any documents.
What are you talking about? What I quoted was about transgender asylum seekers. Seeking asylum isn’t a crime.
Gauri Sreenivasan, co-executive director of the Canadian Council for Refugees, said the orders will harm transgender people who are seeking to make an asylum claim in the United States.
Under Trump's policies for example, a transgender woman could be placed in a detention facility with male detainees.
That obviously puts trans asylum seekers at risk of violence.
No idea, I'm not as read up on that. It would shock me if it was significantly different just because risk of death from complications is a hard biological line the younger you get, pre-modern medicine.
In Western Europe at least back to the early medieval period it was common for anyone who wasn’t nobility to have their first child around 22. The younger you are the more likely you’re going to have serious (fatal, back then) complications. It was the nobility that was marrying off barely pubescent kids.
Yeah, I keep seeing people posting about how they were permabanned from reddit like I'm supposed to think that's normal or sympathize with them..? I don't automatically block them but man is the toxicity making me want to start doing it.
This is part of why I'm not going back to reddit, you can just check modlogs here to see who is actually a victim of a power tripper vs someone who slung abuse and then wants to act like a confused puppy.
I suppose there is also the argument to be made that Trump made everyone nonbinary, as a zygote has no apparent sex characteristics or gamete production, being a single cell.
I appreciate you being open to listening 🫶
