This announcement is from the Lawnchair Discord:

Lawnchair 14 has arrived!

After about 2 years, we're delighted to announce that Lawnchair 14 has finally arrived!

Based on Launcher3 from Android 14, this release works with QuickSwitch from Android 10 to Android 14! You won't need to use an older version to integrate with the system.

Some major highlights:
• Search your phone, the web, and more with our new Global Search — no root needed!¹
• View flight info, see surrounding traffic, and keep an eye on your data usage with Smartspacer — all integrated within Lawnchair.²
• Want to further control your icons? Fret not, We now support custom icon packs for themed icons, alongside some new icon options.³
• Themers rejoice — you can now hide the Dock for a cleaner home screen. You can also change even more colors, fonts, and padding.
• Are you tired of Lawnchair crashing because of widgets? We've fixed that issue; you won’t need to do some hacky workaround to add them.⁴

Alongside that, we have a new partnership with Startpage — searching with Startpage (via the dock search bar or App Drawer search) helps support Lawnchair’s development.

We still have more things to share! See the announcement on our website for more information.

¹ Experimental feature, requires opt in Lawnchair Settings.
² Requires Smartspacer and respective plugins.
³ Requires a supported icon pack .
⁴ May still persist depending on the device.

Over the weekend, I learned an interesting fact: The most popular Redditor of all time has amassed their karma by exclusively posting fanart images of anime girls and vTubers dozens of times a day for roughly five straight years. They have earned more than 46 million karma (Reddit points) by posting almost exclusively to relatively small anime-focused subreddits such as r/AnimeLingerie, r/GenshinImpactNSFW, r/BluearchiveNSFW, r/animebooty, r/animebodysuits, r/thighhighhentai, etc.

The user, called u/CheetahSperm18, spent years posting a mix of hentai and anime art but, more recently, has primarily posted a mix of SFW anime art and mildly NSFW anime waifus in lingerie. CheetahSperm18 passed the infamous u/gallowboob as the most popular Reddit users of all time sometime in 2021, according to the site Karmalb, which is a “Leaderboard for Reddit.”

Depending on volunteers is not sustainable, given the regulatory scrutiny that the company will now face, said Julian Klymochko, CEO of alternative investment solutions firm Accelerate Financial Technologies.

"It's like relying on unpaid labor when the company has nearly a billion dollars in revenue," he added. Reddit reported revenue of $804 million in 2023, according to an earlier filing.

Basically, title.

There are a lot of news recently following the Reddit IPO, and I guess it might be interesting to have a dedicated Reddit community (also, having it elsewhere than LW would be nice to reduce the current hypercentralization), and allow people who aren't interested to just block it and still enjoy !technology@lemmy.zip

What do you think? Just asking the community first as I know sometimes people are concerned about community fragmentation

PS: thank you @BrikoX@lemmy.zip for your work animating the lemmy.zip communities!

Maybe add a reference to !plugins@sh.itjust.works and !lemmy_integrations@lemmy.dbzer0.com in the sidebar?

I guess those communities would be better for those

It's interesting, it's because of such articles and comments about the various issues (mostly battery life, and sometimes connectivity) that I didn't consider Pixel for my new phone.

It's sad because they are supposed to be the Android top devices. Motorola seems decent nowadays, Asus Zenfone got a lot of backlash recently about the locked bootloader, but at least their phones are compact and have audio jacks. Even Xiaomi I could consider with DNS blocking to stop the trackers, their quality-price ratio is quite good, especially second hand.

Motorola seems to be back on track. I didn't get the G84 because the CPU seems a bit slow, and I don't like the curved screens from the Edge models, but it's definitely on my radar for their next models.
