In the famous double slit experiment, setting up a measurement device that watches which slit an electron passes through changes the eventual outcome on the screen, causing the wave function to collapse.

If the measurement device were a light year away and were precise enough to "zoom in" and see which slit the electrons went through, what would happen on the final screen?

Surely, if the measurement device were off, then the electrons would behave like waves and not particles. An interference pattern would appear on the final screen as there is no observer. On the other hand, if someone a light year away turned on the measurement device, this far-away person (and the measurement device) wouldn't know which slit the electrons went through until a year later. And, the electrons going through the slits wouldn't "know" they are being observed because no information (ie the measurement device turning on) can travel faster than the speed of light.

For example, on my profile picture. Find them on Coolbuddy or some other site and save as a webp.

The music in the credits was unbelievable (and the music throughout of course)

I would LOVE to see a feature film in that art style (at the end).

This is such a great all-around Zelda game and isn't a huge time commitment either. It's very linear but there's plenty of random mini games and shops to explore. It also is a very special and unique Nintendo game and incorporates an early looking version of Kirby and has chain chomps from Mario. The art direction is "toy style" and it's incredibly polished. It's really one of those remakes where they didn't cut any corners.

Maybe they realized that Apple's is so much more premium that whoever would buy the Quest Pro would instead by the Apple Headset.

That's very clever.

Take this screenshot for example. This is the front page of Lemmy right now. Virtually every post will make the reader feel bad and depressed. It’s all doombait, ragebait - and if it’s a meme, it is usually a meme that leaves an annoyed taste in your mouth at someone or something.

This is what drove me and many others away from Reddit, and a decentralized platform does not have to have this problem in theory - but it Is currently experiencing it now. Reddit has no reason to change their depressing content because it drives much engagement and creates revenue. But, for a decentralized platform to just be filled with ragebait and doombait is not good and exposes inherent problems with the platform right now.

What’s more is that most of these posts are posted by accounts created in the past month, leading me to believe that people from Reddit who are used to getting karma dopamine from getting people riled up are just doing the same thing here.

I don’t really know how Lemmy can fix this problem - it is something that we really need to be aware of as a community. Don’t just upvote something because it makes you annoyed and you want more people to see it - perhaps we need to downvote ragebait and doombait when we see it so that the platform doesn’t become a depressing echo chamber.

Also, consider individual communities, in case you don't browse the home page. /c/Technology for example. There are many positive innovations that can be talked about. Instead - Right now, the posts in order, summarized in the same format as my post would be: 1. Corporation bad (ally bank). 2. global warming dystopia (Texas heat) 3. corporation bad (Netflix raising prices) 4. corporation bad (Elon Musk sued) 5. regular post 6. corporation bad (playstation store crap) 7. regular post 8 through 11 is corporation bad and AI dystopia news.

With term limits of course. Idk there could be a possibility that they'd take the planet seriously though as they'd be around to see the consequences of environmental policy

Skyward Sword HD! The visuals and dungeons are so fun. Also, it turns out it's the only Zelda game that's HD and 60FPS. I hadn't realized this before. I really hope they remake other Zeldas.

There’s a subgenre of memes that was super popular on Reddit which was basically just depressing thoughts and information packed into a meme format. These memes don’t really add anything of value to any platform in my opinion and usually just make the reader feel bad, either because it highlights something negative, or because it is dystopian. Here is an example: https://lemmy.world/post/1405826?scrollToComments=true

It’s in a meme format, but what’s the point? Opponents of this thought process tend to say that we should let upvotes and downvotes decide - because if something is upvoted, then people must like it. The problem is negative emotions create more engagement on average, so upvotes aren’t an accurate reflection of what content is good.

I might be pretty ignorant here but what is so proprietary about Twitter/Threads? It just lets people make public status updates and share photos. Unless they literally used the same lines of code, how is it infringement and trade secrets?

Edit: to clarify, I know that many short hair styles don’t have a part at all. Mostly talking about people with hair long enough to have one. I find it interesting that many studies conclude that beauty is tightly correlated with how symmetrical someone’s face is. However, many haircuts and hair styles are asymmetrical, including any style with the part off-center (very common for both male and female hair styles). Not just that, but we really like the way these haircuts and styles look too. It makes me wonder why one’s perception of beauty might not take into account the symmetry of one’s hair. I don’t have an opinion on what looks better, symmetrical vs not symmetrical as I think it depends on the person and what suits them. I am wondering if anyone else has thought about this.

I think Lemmy could use some more ads. I feel like I don't have enough material things, and I don't know what to buy. /s

I agree, I'm the same way.
