Bit idea: Chinese intelligence agent who suffers from imposter syndrome because his colleagues keep congratulating him on uncovering classified US military documents but in reality he just checks the War Thunder forums twice a week

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 18 points 2 years ago

For real

I guess there's a overlap between plays War Thunder and Willing to disseminate military secrets that we really should be taking advantage of

[–] silent_water@hexbear.net 9 points 2 years ago

critical support to war thunder nerds for being some of the largest risks to US security

Warthunder is the best citizen counterintelligence op in existence

I've gotta imagine that this is intentional by now on the part of the developers of this game.

It's not difficult to stop people sharing this content, you could simply block uploads and external URLs on the forum.

They don't do this because they like that this provides publicity for their game. It is excellent marketing.

These people would just paste the part of the manual that proves their pet tank/ship/plane is the bestest ever.

[–] Egon@hexbear.net 25 points 2 years ago (3 children)

[–] Egon@hexbear.net 15 points 2 years ago

"Don't worry, it's completely secure, I made sure they couldn't edit it!"

[–] blobjim@hexbear.net 7 points 2 years ago

The comments suggest this manual is publicly available and this is indeed not classified information. It might be ITAR restricted, but thats a long shot from classified

Okay maybe I'm too paranoid but the wording and tone of that sentence sounds way too fake oblivious and enthusiastic

I genuinely believe this is an op to trick foreign states into believing the Typhoon DA7 is worse than it actually is with the fake manual
