For real

I guess there's a overlap between plays War Thunder and Willing to disseminate military secrets that we really should be taking advantage of

[-] silent_water@hexbear.net 9 points 1 year ago

this website really needs to up its game

[-] UmbraVivi@hexbear.net 40 points 1 year ago

Bit idea: Chinese intelligence agent who suffers from imposter syndrome because his colleagues keep congratulating him on uncovering classified US military documents but in reality he just checks the War Thunder forums twice a week

[-] Catradora_Stalinism@hexbear.net 37 points 1 year ago

critical support to war thunder nerds for being some of the largest risks to US security

[-] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 35 points 1 year ago

Oops we privatized everything under the sun so now our military shit is stored on a cheaply made cloud service.

[-] ChaosMaterialist@hexbear.net 35 points 1 year ago

Warthunder is the best citizen counterintelligence op in existence

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 31 points 1 year ago

I've gotta imagine that this is intentional by now on the part of the developers of this game.

It's not difficult to stop people sharing this content, you could simply block uploads and external URLs on the forum.

They don't do this because they like that this provides publicity for their game. It is excellent marketing.

These people would just paste the part of the manual that proves their pet tank/ship/plane is the bestest ever.

[-] Egon@hexbear.net 25 points 1 year ago

They're storing secret documents on Google drive? mao-wtf

[-] Egon@hexbear.net 15 points 1 year ago

"Don't worry, it's completely secure, I made sure they couldn't edit it!"

[-] blobjim@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago

uhhh they probably just uploade it there.

[-] pedestrian@hexbear.net 24 points 1 year ago

The comments suggest this manual is publicly available and this is indeed not classified information. It might be ITAR restricted, but thats a long shot from classified

[-] GaveUp@hexbear.net 9 points 1 year ago

Okay maybe I'm too paranoid but the wording and tone of that sentence sounds way too fake oblivious and enthusiastic

I genuinely believe this is an op to trick foreign states into believing the Typhoon DA7 is worse than it actually is with the fake manual
