average tesla build quality

[-] BruceTwarzen@kbin.social 6 points 10 months ago

How is anyone still surprised about things like that? They shipped out cars that used wood, zipties and tape. And that was after everyone complained about how the build quality itself is pretty bad. And that was after people learned that the car is collecting a ton of dirt in their bumpers. And that was after people learned that they just glue neoprene parts into their bodies to at least somehow keep it dry.

I mean given the price, for half a second I considered a Model3 for my partner. But the fact that the Muskrat still owns the company and the notoriously bad build quality were all the reasons I needed to pass on the idea.

Kamel told Auto Evolution that he immediately reached out to Tesla, to have the car checked out by service technicians. However, he unfortunately wasn't able to bring the car in to be checked until July, due to personal obligations. When Tesla finally did see the car, they reportedly told him that the car is safe to drive and didn't fix it. Since then, Kamel has been white-knuckle driving, hoping the crack doesn't get worse with every bump and pothole in the road.

Well he can’t have been that perturbed if he put it off and accepted the mechanic’s recommendation and drove it home.

It's the Tesla owner mindset to follow the company's "trust me bro" at any opportunity

This is the cost of continually being a “pioneer” - you’re the ones they find laying at the side of the path, with arrows in your back

Bummer. Hate spending money on stuff that doesn't last.
