Refund that shit, or dont buy it.

Vote with your wallet

[-] Desmond373@slrpnk.net 78 points 1 month ago

Well that sucks, I guess I'll be playing without buying then.

Quick, change your reviews to negative and change it back to positive as soon as they reverse course, this way they never do that again!

Fucking HD2 players who thought they had taught Sony a lesson.

[-] Goldmage263@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 month ago

"We're still learning what is best for PC players and your feedback has been invaluable."

Yeah. I heard them the first time. They'll try it again and again until they find a way to have enough people ok with using it. Here is the next try.

[-] Carighan@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Especially because did they ever actually revert it? No, right? The game is still delisted in all non PSN countries, right?

[-] Kecessa@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 month ago

They just removed the requirement but didn't make the game available in non PSN countries so they can just revert back to needing it whenever they want

You know, as someone who doesn't have a PlayStation, I want to support PS game developers by buying the games on Steam. But after this atrocious nonsensical debacle by Sony, I will have to leave for the high seas.

Sony... We are pretty evil, don't forget that. We don't believe in agency or player choice. We are only coming to steam because you ungrateful motherfers didn't buy enough play stations. Be thankful we are doing this much.

[-] bazus1@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago

Players: Well, Sony, we're pretty evil too. Many of us have no compunction about sharing and playing cracked versions of your games. More importantly, however, is that if you keep your games in your walled garden... no one will care. We can get exponentially more options and variety than you can ever offer, and with better frame rates and player experience than you can provide. Take your football and go home. We're playing all the other sports.

Sony’s about to get a lot of Munchma Quchi’s and Deez Nutz creating accounts. Too bad they won’t care because a line will go up

[-] v4ld1z@lemmy.zip 19 points 1 month ago

That first name was new to me. Cheers

It’s from one of the few times Stephen Colbert broke character on the Colbert Report

[-] entropicshart@sh.itjust.works 28 points 1 month ago

Oh no! Guess I’ll just grab one from the high seas instead then.

[-] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 27 points 1 month ago

Sony had their chance at the PC gaming market with SOE (Sony Online Entertainment). They washed their hands of it years ago.

Sony can kindly go fuck itself if they want back in now.

[-] BigTrout75@lemmy.world 26 points 1 month ago

Didn't Microsoft do this with the Microsoft Live service? After so many years, they stopped supporting the service and the games are pretty much useless.

[-] umbrella@lemmy.ml 23 points 1 month ago

we can 🏴‍☠️ every game then 🤷

[-] ssm@lemmy.sdf.org 22 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Part of me wishes that Valve would simply tell these publishers that require 3rd party launchers and accounts to run their games to fuck off their platform; at the very least they warn about it on the store page I suppose. It's not like Steam is any less of a DRM platform after all (though you can access the API to download games on unsupported platforms like OpenBSD).

[-] undeffeined@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 month ago

To my knowledge steam shows the info on the store page when a third party account is required

[-] loudmicro@lemmy.world 22 points 1 month ago

It's the first step.. soon they will require playstation plus

[-] ForgottenUsername@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Agreed, I love this game and was eagerly waiting for its PC release. But now I'm out to sea with me hearties.

Its a real shame, cos I do believe in supporting developers, but my personal privacy is not for sale.

[-] Sir_Kevin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 20 points 1 month ago

I'm not necessarily opposed to needing a third party account for a game. VRChat for instance requires it but that makes it easy to use your same account on many different devices/platforms.

That said, Sony has a long track record of leaks, hacks, terrible and outright illegal practices and is generally shitty to their customers. So no, hell no, I will not sign up with them for anything.

[-] trslim@pawb.social 19 points 1 month ago

Hows ps4 emulation these days btw?

[-] olicvb@lemmy.ca 17 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Seems barebones : ( (but am still hopeful)

[from rpcs4, there are more]

[-] FluffyPotato@lemm.ee 16 points 1 month ago

I buy the games I wanna play because Steam makes the process hassle free on Linux and I'm old so I don't feel like tinkering most days but PSN isn't available here so there is no other way to play but piracy to play these games.

[-] aciDC14@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago

Man, i’m so glad i didn’t waste money buying a PS5 for that one Ratchet-Game.

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 2 points 1 month ago

I'm honestly probably going to sell mine once I finish Dad of War. Which was also on PS4.

[-] JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

So their gonna expand PSN access to more regions so people can play these games, right?

...right?

[-] pro_grammer@programming.dev 9 points 1 month ago
[-] Tag365@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 month ago

What? Until Dawn isn't even a PlayStation published game. Wasn't it published by the same company who published The Quarry?

[-] Duke_Nukem_1990@feddit.de 1 points 1 month ago

Wait... I only now realized that those are not the same game lol

[-] Etterra@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Good thing idgaf about any of these games. Suck it PS5.
