Good. The time to stop is when Russia leaves Ukraine.
Typical past ceasefires or truces with Russia:
- +0 Hours: Shelling stops on both sides, occasional gunfire erupts in places.
- +1 Hours: Russians rush supplies to their troops.
- +3 Hours: Russians violate truce and try to gain as much ground as possible in a surprise attack.
.
Fool me once...
I support Zelenskyy's position here. Russia doesn't deserve peace.
Should ask to the dictator that's attacking...
good lord my president is dumb as fuck
I hope you’re French and not Ukrainian?
ye ye
At one point wasn't Macron going on about practically starting World War III? He was definitely all for it a couple of months back.
Not that I'm complaining or anything.
He said "in any case I'm gonna to have to send men to Odessa" on feb 21st.
Correct.
I wasn’t asking you lol
Either way, you were correct.
Ah Lemmy, where even agreement is a point of contention. I truly am home. ☺️
Fucking good. What a hero. We need Zelenskyy to help run the U.S. when he is done kicking Puta's ass.
I thought macron was floating the idea of committing French troops in Ukraine a while ago, what happened to that stance? All bark and no bite or does he just love the olympics more than Ukraine?
In his defense, the Olympics are supposed to be a time where mature people set aside geopolitical tensions and just have fun competing for a few weeks. But this is Putin we’re talking about
I thought the Olympics was a time when we see if the country that paid the biggest bribe to the IoC can put on a show?
Exactly. That POS has been given more chances to not genocide his neighbors than you or I get when using an incorrect PIN to access our own money.
Fuck putin and fuck the russian government.
Also while we're at it, fuck the IOC. The sports themselves are cool though.
This is the best summary I could come up with:
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected a call by French President Emmanuel Macron for a truce in the Ukraine-Russia war during the Summer Olympic Games in Paris.
Russia would use any suspension of hostilities to press its military advantage, Zelenskyy said in an interview Friday with Agence France-Presse.
"Let's be honest … Emmanuel, I don't believe it," Zelenskyy told AFP.
On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin told state media that he had discussed the idea of an Olympic truce with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
Asked if he would support the idea, Putin reportedly responded with a criticism of Western sports authorities.
In his AFP interview, Zelenskyy vowed to keep fighting Russia's army.
