“The story so far: In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.”

Wasn't Musk mentioned as one of the greatest visionaries of all time in one of the first episodes of Discovery? Aged like fine milk.

But after watching which direction that show took maybe it was appropriate.

Discovery season 1 spoilerYeah, but it was somebody from the Mirror Universe that said that

[–] leave_it_blank@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I don't think that's what the creators had in mind at that time.

[–] Todd_cross@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 years ago

No, probably not, but it is the head canon that I subscribe to.

When the future becomes a place you no longer want to go..

This looks like a fun SciFi comedy about 3 below average aliens who crash land on earth and accidentally end up billionaires on earth because of how advanced the alien society is compared to us, all in an attempt to get back home.

Just to be clear: I don't mean you OP <3, and I'm not advocating for actual violent crime. Creator is YourChildhoodRuined.

I feel like we’re definitely getting Star Trek future. In the Star Trek canon, the United States had a violent uprising in the mid 2020s.

And we've still got the Eugenics Wars to look forward to

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Was that before or after WW3?

Wait... Does that mean the Bell Riots were the catalyst for WW3? What was WW3 fought over? Because IIRC, that's when humanity nearly wiped itself out; when Cochrain launched the first warp-capable vessel, weren't there under 100k total people left on the planet or something? Or was that the Eugenics Wars? 🤔

Oh man... Thinking about this makes me wonder why they haven't done a series that far in the past (aside from it not going into space to fit the star in Star Trek). If they wanna go dark and gritty, what better point in the timeline to explore?

Bozos, I'd put the Lord of Lanai in the background also.

I could have sworn I was the only person who watched that show

[–] SoleInvictus@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 years ago

I watched it too. There's dozens of us. Dozens!

[–] stanleytweedle@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

It was criminally underpromoted. I just stumbled on season 1 when I got HBO for Doom Patrol. Kind of surprised they followed through on season 2 with all the cancellations but glad they did.

Even though the show is done I'm hopeful Iannucci creates another show connected to the A5 universe at some point.
