My issue is that other carriers are sinking to meet Flair. I no longer get to pick my seats when I book on other airlines. I now have to pay not to sit next to the toilet. One checked bag is no longer included.

Flair is pricing itself closer to WestJet/AC, and those airlines are moving towards Flair in their service.

and the enshittification continues. Good luck if you're not flying a trunk route.

Checked bag not being included seems more fair to me. Previously the light packers were subsidizing the heavy packers, and that's the wrong way around if we want to encourage lower emissions.

So the seat price will go down, right?

Hopefully, but depends on competition.

That being said, as someone who places climate change as their top priority, flights getting more expensive is very low on my list of things to be concerned about.

Depends. Toronto-Calgary 300$ because flair... Montreal-Calgary 800$ because no flair. Recently, flair is now charging 400 for the same route...

If everyone has giant carry-ons, boarding/deplaning, and delays are common, requiring larger buffers and eats into costs. Free check and no carry on would actually be better.

It can certainly raise it's prices because "Cheaper than Air Canada" is the lowest bar to clear.
