Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

“He sat me on the edge of the bath. And I closed my legs. And I resisted. And he kept punching me and put his gun in my face,” Ms. Soussana said. “Then he dragged me to the bedroom.”

This month, a United Nations report said that there was “clear and convincing information” that some hostages had suffered sexual violence and there were “reasonable grounds” to believe sexual violence occurred during the raid, while acknowledging the “challenges and limitations” of examining the issue.

She said Muhammad slept outside the bedroom, in the adjacent living room, but frequently entered the bedroom in his underwear, asking about her sex life and offering to massage her body.

Muhammad forced her to commit a sexual act on him, Ms. Soussana said. After the assault, Muhammad left the room to wash, leaving Ms. Soussana sitting naked in the dark, she said. When he returned, she recalled him showing remorse, saying, “I’m bad, I’m bad, please don’t tell Israel.”

I'm very sorry that happened to her, however it does not justify Israel's reaction and it certainly doesn't justify the thousands of dead children.

Why is this article on a single rape being reposted daily?

I'll say what I said in the last post, I am unable to muster the energy to care about a single rape in the face of mass slaughter/genocide.

It's only natural for victims of long-term mass violence to resist with violence. The question is why is this single act of violence worth an article, but we are not seeing individual articles for each child starved to death by Israel?

My answer is this rape is being leveraged as propoganda to justify the Holocaust 2.0.

Hitler would rage about the crimes of the jews as justification for the first run, it only makes sense for the new nazis to repeat the strategy.

Why is this article on a single rape being reposted daily?

The article was written just yesterday and Lemmy shows no reposts of the article to this community.

Archive link of the article.

You can click into the cross-post and see that this was originally posted yesterday on World News. You can also see this is cross posted in r/conservative.

This also isn't the first piece by NYT on this topic. Just within the last month they have published 5 articles on this same crime.

Does that mean this single reported event needs to be reposted to the news subs 10+ times? Seems like a way to drown out the numerous genocidal acts happening daily.

What is the point of having separate news and world news communities if one is just going to be a repost location for another?

You can also look at the article itself and see it is clearly a propoganda attempt to justify genocide.

They aren't writing articles for each child bombed or starved to death, which is still ongoing, to redirect focus to a single criminal act.

It should also be pointed out, this criminal act can't be handled by a criminal justice system because of the genocide being enacted on Palestine by Israel. A rape is something that calls for a judicial process, not a military response.
