The Venn Diagram of “people that believe in Trump” and “people that believe in religious fairytale creatures” is just a circle. We need less of both of these groups. Not more

Why ‘people who want to dismantle our democracy and replace it with a far right authoritarian regime’ are vital for our democracy.

Ridiculous take on reality.

Anyone downvoting the OP here is being ridiculous. Faithfully posting the article's headline does not mean OP agrees with said headline.

[-] TooSoon@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 year ago

Posting ridiculous “opinion pieces” is nothing more than spreading stupid propaganda. So yeah, OP deserves to be downvoted.

It’s an opinion. I don’t know the authors intention. 70% of Americans identify as Christian, according to the census.

People of faith provenly work against democracy on the daily. It’s a joke. Not an opinion.

I’m an atheist, so I don’t disagree with you. I abhor organized religion. But we need everyone who is anti-fascist to help. If we don’t work with them, despite differences, in the short term, we all lose in the long term.

[-] Pratai@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago

We don’t need their kind of help. It comes at a cost of rights and freedoms. Which is not good for democracy.

[-] TokenBoomer@lemmy.world -1 points 1 year ago

We don’t need their help with votes against fascism? That’s some cut off your nose to spite your face thinking.

[-] Pratai@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 year ago

They’re not going to vote against fascism. That’s the point.

If we are doomed without Christianity’s help… we were doomed before any of this ever started. The religious right will NEVER vote against oppression.

And by the way- This is why op-editorials aren’t supposed to be taken as news.

[-] SaltySalamander@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

No, we don't really need help from people as divorced from reality as religious folks are.

In the comments: the terminally online atheist rails against his straw man of thiests. Nobody was surprised.

[-] TokenBoomer@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

Why do people focus on me? I’m a nobody posting articles for your infotainment. Your focus should be on the merits of the article. Do people really enjoy projecting hate into the world? Or would there time be better spent on self reflection and improvement? How do you feel about teaming with Christians to stop fascism?

[-] roguetrick@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I believe you misunderstood my comment. I'm saying that you triggered terminally online atheists who cannot envision a theist as anything but evil due to fundamental attribution error. Just like the folks they hate, hilariously enough.

[-] TokenBoomer@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

Sorry I misunderstood you. I will now reflect on being terminally online.
