The fascinating thing about Pope Francis is that he has the exact right set of progressive and conservative ideas to piss everyone off

[-] arymandias@feddit.de 80 points 8 months ago

100% right. Individuals know best what their own gender is. If you have an ideology prescribing acceptable gender expression for others, you are a danger to society.

Bigger than the danger Priests pose to kids?

[-] nightwatch_admin@feddit.nl 24 points 8 months ago

Say what you want but there’s no question on gender there

[-] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 9 points 8 months ago

Yeah, those priests fuck both little boys and little girls.

The Pope is woke! Gender ideology IS toxic.

We should support the catholic church in their initiative to reform their sexist gender roles.

I'm impressed the patriarch of Rome is so invested in dismantling the patriarchy.

... wait that's not what he means? He supports highly defined gender roles? What a toxic ideology.

Yeah, this Pope will say anything that is necessary at any given time to make people believe whatever is convinient to win believers --Aka: Cash source- at the time. Religious grift in action folks.

"Pope Francis has the most extraordinary ability to say and write things that his supporters and staff then have to explain away, justify, obfuscate, or even downright deny. In a new book, The Strength of a Vocation, based on an extended interview with Spanish priest Fr. Fernando Prado, he has said that homosexuality in the priesthood is “something that worries me” and a “very serious” question. He also insists that gay priests who cannot maintain their vows of celibacy should leave the priesthood rather than live “double lives,” and recommends that gay men not be allowed to enter seminaries if their homosexuality is “deep seated.” He goes on to describe homosexuality as being “fashionable,” and that this notion has now entered the Roman Catholic culture."

Gender ideology, which seeks to blur differences between men and women through movements such as transgenderism, “makes everything the same,” Francis said.

“Erasing differences is erasing humanity. Man and woman, however, are in a fruitful ‘tension,’” Francis told the assembly

Wild. Unscientific, Transphobic and in the end just realy harmful misinformation.

Yeah, he's the Pope... that's kinda their whole role

All those articles I see rizzing up the Pope as some bastion of progressive values, it's nice to remember the guy is still the head of one of the biggest pedophile organizations in the world. The only reason they say the good things is because they're on the verge of a legitimacy crisis, and their legitimacy is the only thing keeping their abusers from the justice they're long overdue.

Isn't this like, the 5th time he's said this or something? Why am I seeing this in a lot of places like it's huge news?

[-] Th4tGuyII@kbin.social 1 points 8 months ago

That's the hill Pope Francis is willing to die on? - that Gender ideology is the ugliest danger today?
Not Russia's endless onslaught against the Ukrainian people or Israel's genocide against the Palestinian people?
Pope Francis needs to get outside more often.

“I still have a cold and it’s tiring to read for a while,”

It's almost like someone is trying to tell you to STFU.
