I've tried several apps, some of which are very good, but I was wondering if there's an official app, or any plans to develop one.

As far as official and app goes, there is m.lemmy.world. You can select Android UI or iOS UI in the settings. But there is no official app. And Jerboa is developed for Android by the same developers as Lemmy itself.

btw. m.lemmy.world uses Voyager (also available as app)

The whole reason we all ended up on Lemmy is to have freedom from official apps. So far Lemmy has managed to cultivate developers that created several excellent apps.

The closest thing to an official app is Jerboa.

Jerboa is developed by Lemmy's project owners

Lemmy Connect is quite good for Android.

There's the thing that you download when you click on the menu and it saves it as lemmy so it's like an app...wtf am i trying to say?

Memmy on iOS is pretty damn good. Closest thing to Apollo I’ve found so far

Memmy and Voyager are the two best ones right now in my opinion, can’t really go wrong with either

Tangent: speaking of official apps, do we have an official lemmy instance or at least the 1st/original lemmy instance?

Lemmy.ml is run by the devs, so that's the closest to official. They specifically tried to avoid it being the main instance though
