Opinions? I prefer to call them facts!

[–] fitgirl_fangirl@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 days ago

The culture wars shit that ya see on social media

[–] Hudell@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Eating Asian food using forks. Preparing meat well-done. Cutting pasta with a knife. Using cutlery when eating pizza. Basically everything that people say has a "right way" of eating. What difference does it make to you if you're not the one eating?

[–] BigPotato@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Once you've seen kids try to eat soup with their hands, you'll start enforcing stupid rules too. On one hand, I don't care in the slightest about 'etiquette' but God help me, stop using your offhand to shovel pasta into a spoon and then dropping half of it. Sit up straight, utensil over your plate and put your utensil down when you're not using it.

But, like, put pineapple on pizza and enjoy your steak how you want it.

Celebrity gossip. I find it really difficult to care about what some celebrity said about something.

Pineapple on pizza.

I think people should just eat what they enjoy.

Pineapple on pizza. I don't care. I don't order it, but will eat it and not complain if served it.

Coke, Pepsi and most all cola flavored things don’t taste different enough to matter.

Sports? I think it's a tribalistic waste of time and money, but people are allowed to like what they like.

[–] its_prolly_fine@sh.itjust.works 18 points 4 days ago (1 children)

That kinda sounds like an opinion

i genuinely dont care about gender at all. I'll fight tooth and nail for my trans brothers and sisters but in a perfect world I'd never think about it even a little

Other people's lives. I don't get why how other people live bother people. If they like the same sex, go for it. If they like to dress up as a goat on the weekend? Ok, cool. It's your life, do what you want with it.

I think powerscaling is stupid so any powerscaling discussion beyond "this is stupid" is not something I feel strongly about

[–] fitgirl_fangirl@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 days ago

what does it mean?

[–] Hudell@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I generally agree, but I can make one exception: when there's a clear power system it can be fun to talk about how one power would fare against another. Not so much scaling the characters themselves but pitching their powers' themes against one another, like some advanced rock-paper-scissors thing. One Piece used to allow for things like this at one point, (before new power systems were included) like rubber > thunder > ice > rubber.

Who or what is "the best" of something. Any genre I can think of: Sports, art, food, engineering, design, whatever. Or I guess I kind of do, if you have some wild take that I don't understand at all, but the discussions where people are like "lebron or kobe?" or "poe or shakesspeare?" I just do not get. "What's the best anime?" eh. There's no best of anything, it's all just a matter of definition.

People putting pineapple on their pizza.

Whatever man. Some people like opera music. Some people like golden showers. And some people like putting pineapple on their pizza. Can't we all just get along?

[–] Cysioland@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 2 days ago

Cheesecake. I love it both with and without raisins.

[–] z3rOR0ne@lemmy.ml 12 points 3 days ago

Literally any topic on which I have little to no knowledge. I can't have an opinion on a topic I barely know exists.

[–] sunbeam60@feddit.uk 2 points 2 days ago

Sports.

I feel like Maurice and Roy watching football in IT Crowd’s β€œAre we not men?”-episode.

Music fidelity, as long as I can hear it, idgaf about the quality of the speakers.

[–] Teh@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

This is more a diminishing return issue if you ask me. There are absolutely people driving around blasting from blown speakers. Most of the time though, the freebie headphones and mp3 are fine.

[–] judgy_jackdaw@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

same. i have friends who spend hundreds of euros of fancy headphones, even more on a speaker setup, get high fidelity versions of the tracks etc. while i'm completely vibing to free earbuds that came with the phone and youtube mp3 downloads

Favorite color, book, movie, etc.

I arbitrarily decided green is my favorite color just so I could answer icebreakers without looking like a personality-less weirdo. But really, I don't care and don't really understand having a "favorite".

Books, movies, other medias, I understand a bit more but still don't have any of my own. I rarely re-read or re-watch anything. And the things I do re-watch (mostly Halloween or Christmas season stuff) aren't my favorite overall, just for the applicable season. I can't recall the last book I re-read.

People's taste in food. Like pinapple on 0zza? Cool, like ketchup on porkchops? Ok. Don't like spicey foods? All good.

Seeing as we're on lemmy and I'm sure other people here hold very strong opinions on these things:

  1. terminals
  2. text editors

I really don't understand why people get so fixated on these things. Can I type in it, and they do the thing? 10/10 no notes.

[–] FruitLips@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 days ago

Happy enough w/ most terminal emulators, but with Vim, it's not hard finding programs for just about anything that mimic the keybind philosophy and I can keep my mits on the homerow where (i feel) they belong.
