Great news, not just for Brazil, but for the whole world.

But winning the election is just the first step. The more important part is that he uses his victory to deliver the results that he promised. If politicians did this better, we would never see a far right movement in the first place.

Let's hope we see it happen.

And hold everyone involved accountable. Unlike the US

[–] capital5@discuss.tchncs.de 22 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Funny you mention that: https://www.panamericandispatch.org/p/meta-ignores-brazilian-court-order

Really hope Facebook gets pounded for their interference in Brazil's election.

Brasil's Supreme Court has a history of fucking with Billionaires already.

[–] Gaslov@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

I guess we have a record to look at on whether or not he delivers on promises.

Bolsonaro needs to be tried and dealt with

[–] Mrkawfee@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

The Zionist fascists couldn't get their puppet to take over Brazil.

[–] Tujio@lemmy.world 63 points 2 days ago

Oh thank fuck.

[–] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 47 points 2 days ago

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Looking out the window, as though I’m talking about the weather: We needed this

Congratulations to Brazil!

Lula has a rather funny name, in English it would be something like Squid of the Woods. 🤣

[–] SethTaylor@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

That awkward moment when a president wins a fourth term but it's a good thing

Edit: Did really nobody understand this or did the tankies show up?

EDIT 2: This was crossposted to ML. I accidentally walked into the psych ward. I hope somebody shuts down ML. I really really deeply do.

[–] freeman@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Why, if the people democratically vote for someone why should they be artificially limited?

[–] syreus@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (2 children)

To prevent bad actors from consolidating power and corrupting the systems that keep those elections free and fair. Are term limits perfect? No. Do they solve more problems than they create? Probably.

[–] freeman@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago (2 children)
[–] syreus@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

I appreciate that you also said "probably".

[–] martti@suppo.fi -2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Already rolling your T-40 on the streets to kill some protesters demanding "The People's" involvement in decision making?🥰 You sweet little tankie❤️

[–] freeman@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

Yes, Lula is the one who will bring out the tanks. Not the son of an ex-military officer that is in prison for a coup attempt.

Nazi scum.

[–] SethTaylor@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

This was crossposted to ML. I just noticed. Brace yourself

[–] drmoose@lemmy.world -1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Surprised to see this down voted but then I remembered that .ml still exists.

[–] bilb@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I genuinely have no idea why you think lemmy.ml users would be mad about Lula winning or whatever. Am I misunderstanding? And cross posted articles have their own separate comment sections anyway, and everyone in the worldnews com of lemmy.ml is celebratory. https://lemmy.ml/post/54505143 https://lemmy.ml/post/54504170

[–] drmoose@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

You don't understand why dictator apologists would think that unlimited terms are acceptable?

[–] bilb@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I see now that you and the person who started this comment thread are continuing an argument from somewhere else about term limits where you might have, traumatically, wound up with a negative comment score or something. This, of course, means that lemmy.ml must be eradicated. You're perfectly reasonable.

[–] drmoose@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No this is just yet another proof that lemmy.ml is full of trolls and mentally regressed who justify bad politics and ideas because of their own insuficiencies and trauma. It's a sad place more akin to r/incels but with political enlightenment flavor, though at least the incels keep to themselves.

[–] bilb@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I think you have a distorted understanding about the users of lemmy.ml. At best. Another "proof?"
