Remember when Google removed "Don't be evil." from their company ethos? I remember.

They will just pay the fines and do what they want.

"To the rich, fines are fees."

It’s just another expense for them. A cost of doing business, nothing else. Maybe they estimated that a delayed project will cost 100x more, so it’s cheaper to break some laws and finish up a bit earlier.

Truly arrogant and revolting, but it kinda makes sense if you think like a psychopath.

Psychopaths make excellent CEOs and executives. That's why you'll find thinking like this at the top.

Almost like that was the plan all along.

"Sorry we couldn't interpret the laws correctly" says the company that has an army of lawyers expert in international law. The only correct response to this is "Fuck you".

Rescind the permits to build. Don't let them have the land. Make all future building permits dependent on previous ones not being shady.

Pretending you don't understand the law and taking a fine is way better for them than allowing the environmental study to show how much damage they were about to cause. Sucks that governments use piddling fines as "punishment" rather than arresting the executives who knowingly ordered disobeying the laws and sanctioning the company so they can never build in their country again.

I'm not sure what they expected given all the news of our data center fights here in the US. I wish them all the luck in getting rid of these pests.

All these companies care about is money.

The only effective strategy to deter this kind of behavior is to make them pay fines that outweigh the amount of money they make by breaking the law.

US tech companies do what they like and deal with the consequences later, paying some token fine or settlement. Uber was really blatant about it. They all despise labor laws and avoid taxes. I don't understand why people support them with money and usage. I miss local retail and people being present in their lives instead of stuck in front of an idiot mirror.

These buildings will not provide Finland any value. Unless you charge them the extra super mega expensive electricity bill, you ain't benefiting here. Cause that is the only transaction they will have with you.
