/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!
Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.
~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.
~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.
~ 3. Use spoiler tags.
Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.
~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.
~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.
~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.
~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'
~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.
Fun will now commence.

Quit, and ask me about saving the file if I made any changes.
Q is pretty close to S on the keyboard.
Typo?
Those receipt checkers at the door can be very insistent. I once checked out at a Walmart, then headed for the nearest exit, only to find it was blocked off for construction or something; therefore I headed to the next nearest exit, which had a checker at it. He stopped me, despite having just watched me pay and me having few enough items that it was unrealistic to think that I might have snuck one through.
It turned out, when I had turned around at the other door, the receipt had wafted out of the bag and onto the floor. He all but forced me to cross the entire store to pick it up; he insisted it was in case I wanted to return something, despite most or all of what I had being consumables.
I know they have no authority to detain you or compel you to do anything, but I'm not very confrontational. I also know Walmart can technically ban you, not that they're likely to enforce it, but at the time that Walmart was the only nearby place for me to get most things. Losing access to it wouldn't have ended me or anything, but it would have been very inconvenient.
I did not like that person.
They never check the date.
They just look for big things like cat litter. Toilet paper. Tvs.
But yeah. They never look at the dates.
I mean, I appreciate the roundabout guidance, but I'm fortunate that I don't need to steal (and don't plan to given any other options).
I just say ‘no thanks’ and don’t slow down or engage. They have never tried to insist in any way. I hate it so much that it’s driven me to use the grocery store pickup though so I don’t have to go inside at all.
I don't think I've ever tried that directly, but any time I've tried to decline they have been quite insistent. I'm not worried about it; I haven't seen a receipt checker in quite a long time. The self checkout does have have assistant / monitor present but that doesn't bother me.
And they aren't paid enough to give a shit about keeping their job. Some of them have been thinking about how they'd handle a shoplifter all shift, and you don't want to be one the receiving end of a case of Reddi-Wip.
And some of them have Stockholm Syndrome and will protect the Walmart Corporation at all costs.
The real "Stockholm Syndrome" is abusive authority figures fabricating stories about people they failed to protect to make those people out to have some kind of syndrome when they inevitably ask why the state failed them.
So... I would end up with two cases of reddi-wip? Nice!
Urban dictionary doesn't have anything with /

They queefed

Very much /c/Illegalism@lemmy.dbzer0.com material
Also shoplifting guides do exist out there on the internet. Last I heard Walmart was a bit higher difficulty.
Good call, crossposted it there 😁
