The revolution the feeds the children gets my support!

✏ Rules

  1. DO NOT DOXX YOUR KIDS - Seriously, use an alt for this comm or keep it vague; otherwise we’re centralizing info about everyone’s kids into a single place that can be easily focused on.
  2. No jokes about dead kids - I don't care how much the romanovs deserved it, or how right John Brown was, save it for another comm.
  3. No antinatalism struggle sessions

Folks! I have been dad-brained to hell and back, and I've been slipping on making new threads for this comm! I feel bad about it. I think, to ensure I can more reliably make threads, I'm going to trial making monthly threads.

Let me know your thoughts on that! I'm open to other ideas too!

We pulled together some costumes for trick-or-treating: I'll be the tin man, my spouse will be the scarecrow, and Little Beaver will be the Lion. Little Beaver got super into wearing her lion onesie, and has been walking around with it saying "RAWR". Very psyched for halloween this year - we're getting the neighborhood kids together for a pre-trick-or-treating party in the late afternoon, and then we'll head out around the block. It's been exciting seeing the kids from the neighborhood gel together even in just the short time we've lived on the block. It was a bit of a shot in the dark when we moved, but we landed in a good neighborhood, and hopefully these will be some lifelong friends for Little Beaver.

Gotta get as much bike and park time in with the kid before it gets cold! She's been very sweet lately, although still learning some bad habits from the other kids at daycare (shoving, hitting).

Same here. Kiddo asked if we could take the car to school (probably because of the novelty of going to school a different way), but I have to keep reminding her that nice bicycle weather is running out.

I gotta say, I'm feeling the squeeze on the schedule more and more since the end of summer vacation. It's enough to make a person batty. This stuff will resolve at some point, but right now, I'm cooked.

We saw some skeletons hanging upside-down in the local Hammerbarn and one of the kids asked why. I told them "The Predator did that". Now I'm trying to explain who the Predator is whilst giving as few details as possible, like I'm not going to tell them the Predator also peels their skin off. I did tell them Good Robot (Schwarzenegger) stops the Predator though.

Then I'm trying to explain to the kids one of the reasons we can't watch Predator is because it's rated R. The only R rated thing I could find was my boxed copy of The Last Of Us Part II (bought it ages ago, before the Jack Saint video explaining how it's a really pained metaphor for the Isn'trael occupation - from the occupiers perspective). They take the box and ask "who's that?" to the picture of a Clicker on the back. I tell them it's a mushroom zombie, then they're just asking about mushroom zombies.

Then they're still asking about mushroom zombies in the shower and my girlfriend hears, asks why they're asking about mushroom zombies, and I have to explain everything above to her.

Took the kiddo in for vaccines and it ended up being 5 boosters all at once. Glad we got them but they were cranky for a couple days lol. With measles becoming a thing again it makes me way less anxious that they’re topped off on that now.

Looking for Halloween costumes but almost every one we’ve found revolves around a hat. No toddler I have ever known wants to wear a hat. What gives??
