Donald Trump spent hours asking Elon Musk’s AI chatbot about whether Venezuelans would celebrate if he captured leader Nicolas Maduro—then ordered the operation that seized the South American dictator weeks later.

According to the report, Trump has “marveled at AI’s capabilities” ever since he returned to power, and during an Oval Office meeting with Elon Musk in December, he spent hours asking his Grok chatbot questions about his presidency and legacy.

When the president asked Grok how Venezuelans might react to Maduro’s capture, the chatbot predicted many would welcome the downfall of the “repressive” leader, the official said.

Of course he loves LLMs, they're the ultimate yes man.

Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the best president of them all....

Remember when Congress was required for war stuff? Good times . . ..

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Was that ever actually true? It certainly hasn’t been for 100 years now.

[–] CrimeIsLegalNow@ani.social 4 points 4 days ago

Was it true, yes.

Is it true now, no, specifically because Congress is fully captured by corporate interests.

I think to myself he can't be this stupid and then he opens his mouth.

[Trump] spent hours asking his Grok chatbot questions about his presidency and legacy.

Jesus. Imagine the chat conversations log.

You better believe Musk has a log of Trump's conversations with Grok.

Musk has Trump's nuts in a vice. No wonder he was recently let back into the White House..

I knew Trump couldn't form a coherent thought without it being handed to him. I just assumed his cabinet was the one handing him those thoughts, not Musk's pedo-bot.

Jesus, this explains so much about why Trump makes so many incomprehensible and stupid moves.

He's not just listening to Fox News. He's listening to Grok.

He's not joking when he wants to rebrand AI as "super intelligence". He actually believes that shit.

Grok is our president. Trump is its puppet

[–] SpruceBringsteen@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

How much you want to bet that the Grok he's talking to is a fork in the model specially tailored for the cheeto himself? If it's even a model and not just some human agent pulling the strings.

Oh yeah, Musk is definitely pulling his strings

The president then ordered the mission to seize Maduro in January, prompting celebrations in the streets

OK, now that's just propaganda.

People went into the streets with guns, in solidarity with the government, demanding Madoro's return.

The Daily Beast has a very….loose relationship with facts. I wish it wasn’t allowed in news communities here. Same with RawStory. But they both write fun headlines so here we are.

[–] cloudshouter@lemmy.zip 11 points 4 days ago

Here I was thinking it was just a pile of cash and a few flattering words. Using a neofascists sycophantic LLM is both dumber and more convoluted.

Artificial leader uses artificial intelligence

Super leader and super intelligence.

The president on Tuesday also unveiled his own chatbot-driven initiative in the form of America.gov: a one stop shop designed to give Americans accurate information and spare them from navigating a maze of clunky websites.

The AI-powered portal is intended to eventually let people do everything from finding jobs and searching government websites to enrolling in Medicare and renewing passports.

“This is a very big, very important thing,” Trump said.

“It’s going to save you a tremendous amount of time. It’s going to save you a lot of accuracy and it’s going to save you from making a lot of mistakes.”

Ohhh, save us accuracy, that makes sense. He's not dumb, just the AI he relies on like an advisor is fucking stupid...

I just hope that when he asks Grok if he should use nukes on Iran it says no.

Vault Dweller enters Presidential Nuclear Bunker

"Sorry about the mix up with the mushroom clouds, that's on me boss, I shouldn't have encouraged the end of the world, I won't do that again, Promise!"

[What the fuck?]

[Who was that guy I just shot]

[Sure Grampa]

[–] espentan@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

I suppose it would "feel" it has little to lose, so why not nuke a little *shrug*

[–] crayons_to_chaos@lemmy.world 17 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Downvote clickbait titles folks

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

daily beast is a shitty source.

[–] hal_baleigh@piefed.social 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I deleted my reddit account the other day and came here, and still can't avoid this shitty engagement bait.

[–] crayons_to_chaos@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

Yeah, the old ways are gone it seems

Donald Trump spent hours asking Elon Musk’s AI chatbot about whether Venezuelans would celebrate if he captured leader Nicolas Maduro

omg, Trump kicked Musk out, and then Musk was working on Grok to control Trump on the sidelines.

That sly bastard.

[–] minorkeys@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 days ago

The fact that a private citizen has that access to the thoughts of a head of state is an unprecedented threat to sovereignty.

Come on man, "a one stop slop shop" was right there looking for you.

don't you watch the news? It's not a war, it's a 'military operation'
