If we all work hard, make little changes, and care for one another, we can make planet Ohio come true.

Hey @lyya@lemmy.blahaj.zone

Seeing your posts these days, and this community you've made, I have a question.

Why are you so based?

Explain yourself.

[–] lyya@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Hi there!

Not sure how serious your question is.. But if by "based" you meant this whole hope thing, I can think about couple causes. I guess my life's context and therapy turned my unbearably high standards, self-demand, and depression into to strive to be the better person every day for everyone and unbending hope for all.

I have a bit of an obsession around the dream to make everything around me better and to be a person I needed so badly growing up. All I can think about is how can I make everything around better, or "how can I help this random stranger". It tends to be a bit harmful at times in a way that I may sometimes neglect my own needs. But I'm working on it!

Therapy does wonders I guess.

Posting these on my breaks is the smallest thing I can do related to what I've just described. But of course I won't stop here. If you want to hear my actual plans, you'll be lucky since I love yapping about it. :3

Sure, I'd love to have a read if you love yapping about them, hahaha

Stay awesome regardless, I know the sheer effort of trying to be a healthy version of your own childhood savior, and it's a very noble dream to have 🩷

Thanks!

So about those plans, I will try keeping it a bit shorter

What I really wish to achieve is creating actually healthy and meaningful pieces of art/media that are hosted and shared independently from social media, cinemas, and streaming services. Either by people hosting them, inviting others home to watch, or sharing physical copies. Something that's accessible for everyone in different languages and exists solely to fund charities and spread awareness about aspects of human condition. Shows/movies that capture inner thoughts, perceptions, and feelings of different people. Music peaces that captures raw thoughts and have their own stories in them. I really want to romanticize questioning and observing you own thoughts, patterns, perspective, and subtle unconscious actions. The idea of universe observing itself and how truly beautiful it is. I wish I could make curiosity and education and cool again. I'm obsessively studying every aspect of making media because I really think that good things deserve to be high quality too. And as a plus I want to use free-software and as much ethical hardware as possible. I want more people to know about it.

As a side-plot in my life I'm thinking about opening non-profit cafés/bars that host themed events related to history/fiction/etc and hide different secrets in their interior that people would come from far to experience. Like riddles, ARGs, etc. And those who put effort into solving those get something meaningful as a prize. The profits would go into free food during specific days of the week for those who need it and local charities and public infrastructure.

I don't mind that this kind of life will probably leave me with nothing living in a trailer or something. In the end I wish to know that I did something right. I also don't care if it's unrealistic. I will still try my best.

So.. yeah.

That sounds awesome!

On the first part about media, it sounds like that is basically a passion for you, so yeah, fucking awesome, pursue it!

On the second one about the cafés, you don't need to approach it with such a self-sacrificing mindset, there's a bunch of people out there who'd be willing to help you make such things, as part of a normal life!

Look for mutual aid networks, and/or connected cooperatives, or anarchist groups, or your city's/area's squats!

I participate in a little political group, that is part of a larger cooperative collective of groups. We all together pitch in to rent a small building, for use for meetings and other things, that, in order to meet its costs, some times a week has shifts available as a bar, with all proceeds going to maintenance, extras being donated or used for good purposes.

In an environment like this one, rather than you having to invest from your money, investing the time and effort for such events you're describing dreaming of, might instead be literally helping everyone involved.

You're not alone in your desire to help people, and if you manage to find those like you, you'll be able to achieve things that, alone, you might think are too improbable dreams.

Thanks for pouring all this passion in our little corner of the internet! And I hope you'll achieve your dreams, and continue making the world a better place! 🩷

(In case you're young, I'm just going to say for safety's sake, to be careful of cults along the way of looking for those groups. Cults are many, they disguise themselves like groups with purpose, and are looking explicitly to recruit driven people with dreams, just like you. Look for the people who are trying to do real good in the world, like you. They will want to help you do good things, and support you, instead of expecting or guilting you to do things for them.)
