Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Healthcare is a social right, not a privilege to be rationed by corporate insurers and canceled by government fiat. The fight against the assault on social programs cannot be separated from the fight against the capitalist profit system.

Oz told reporters that 35 percent of people in the system “never used the program,” having never seen a doctor or filled a prescription. Reasoning that people who haven’t used their health insurance will never need it is the logic of someone who has never worried about a medical emergency that could spell bankruptcy overnight.

I'm sure that you'll be waiving the coverage mandates attached to the taxes for all those you dumped too

My brain hurts. He literally described how insurance works. You don't get car insurance cause you plan to use it.

About two years ago all the ACA plans basically became shit and were worthless for routine stuff.

However, I did get several years out of Obamacare and had access to the best insurance of my life on their mid tier plans.

It was a nice couple of years, but employers got used to it and offer even worse plans.

It's all to cut costs at the expense of the lower classes, shifting wealth and power to the greedy assholes already at the top. That's it. It's never been anything more than that.

But that logic, people who haven't had car accidents should be kicked off of their car insurance.

Are you talking about the ACA mandate that Americans have to carry health insurance, and there would be a monetary penalty if an individual didn't (aka "the Individual Mandate")? That mandate was set to a $0 penalty in 7 years ago 2019. Or are you talking about something else?

[–] ShellMonkey@piefed.socdojo.com 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Hadn't recalled it being changed, but given his hate of the ACA and anything related to Obama I'm sure he'll find some way to punish people for either staying on it or being thrown off.

You're not wrong. In 2021, trump and GOP tried to say since the Individual Mandate was made $0 that the entire ACA needed to be thrown out. The Supreme Court of that day told trump to pound sand, so the ACA survived another GOP challenge.

I'm sure this is less about their indifference to what this means for those enrollees, and more about finding ways to cripple the ACA so they can justify killing it altogether.

[–] MasterBlaster@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

I thought they repealed those years ago during Trump reign of terror #1.

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 91 points 5 days ago (5 children)

Why the fuck would you kick people off that pay the insurance but never used it. These guys are so stupid.

[–] areakode@riskeratspizza.com 43 points 5 days ago

Stupid, yes. Evil? Definitely.

Every single republican position becomes a lot more understandable when you consider the fact that they worship death

[–] impairedimperator@lemmy.zip 20 points 5 days ago

They want to raise prices for everyone else to kill the program.

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago

Republicans like to intentionally break things that work to prove that they don't work.

[–] Kayday@lemmy.world 13 points 4 days ago (1 children)

This will make the program unsustainable, and then the participants will have no choices left but to die or pay for privatized insurance.

This will make the program unsustainable

That’s the plan.

[–] godsammitdam@lemmy.zip 39 points 4 days ago

Being healthy and not making a claim...is fraud?

So kick off all the healthy people who pay in more so that those who use it more won't be funded. That way both the people that need it now AND the healthy people that need it later won't be funded!

The literal dumbest administration. Except they're not just dumb, they're explicitly cruel. And that's the point.

One side wants universal health care, the other are legit nazis who want you dead.

"Obviously both sides are the same" - US media

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 18 points 5 days ago

"Literally indistinguishable." - certain users here

[–] starman2112@sh.itjust.works 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Which side wants universal healthcare?

[–] isles@infosec.pub 14 points 5 days ago (1 children)
[–] iamthetot@piefed.ca 1 points 4 days ago

Unfortunately, no. There are loooooooots of working class Americans who don't want that filthy, filthy socialist healthcare.

[–] RaoulDuke25@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 4 days ago (2 children)

When are people gonna start blasting these motherfuckers? We need a Republican cleansing.

[–] Ashenlux@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 4 days ago

Once they see that the midterm doesn't fix everything. People are only passive now because they have faith that we can vote our way out of this. (Not to say voting is a lost cause, everyone should still vote. If you don't vote you are just handing them ligitimicy because they won't have to cheat as hard to "win")

[–] glitch1985@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

start blasting these motherfuckers

Luigi has entered the chat.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

We need a revolution

[–] VeryInterestingTable@jlai.lu 4 points 5 days ago

Almost tempted to believe them. I'm fairly certain they are experts when it comes to fraud.

Oprah deserves a boot to the head for foisting Drs Oz and Phil upon us all. Other reasons too, but especially this one.
