Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. πŸ˜‡ Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. 🏘️ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. 🧬 Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. πŸ“½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. πŸ“‹ Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      βœ… Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      ❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. πŸ“¬ Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 πŸ–) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 πŸ–) will be removed.
  7. πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
  8. 🍿 Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists

The following artists are banned from the community.

  1. Jago
  2. Stonetoss
  3. GPrime85

It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.

Web Accessibility

Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.

When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:

Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

for those who don't know, this futurama was inspired by real life. it is really sad story:

It's funny, because I remember playing Persona 5 and seeing that statue in Shibuya Square every time I'm running to the train.

And then I visit Tokyo and there it is. Like getting to meet a celebrity IRL. Except it's a statue. And there's a someone next to it with an Imperial Japanese flag screaming fascist shit in Japanese. And at the crosswalk there was a guy with his dick out flashing people.

Japan is a magical place.

I never saw any of that on Japan Eat πŸ€”

Imagine being an agricultural scientist, known as the pre-eminent agricultural engineer of the entire country, and being best remembered for how much your dog loved you! Be that good to your pets everybody, you are everything to them.

A story so sad even the futurama writers couldn't take it.

I was hoping someone else would also immediately think of Fry's dog.

Saddest episode of tv I’ve ever witnessed.

Fun fact: if you actually do this then you'll turn the game on to discover your Nintendog ran away due to neglect.

Yes, I'm serious. Take care of your virtual pets, people!

[–] mcqtom@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago

I'm actually really glad you said that. It's so much better than still sitting there or starving.

[–] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Couldn't you just set the system's clock to ensure that doesn't happen?

[–] Salamanderwizard@lemmy.world 57 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Then you're just a liar who can't face the demons that inhabit the walls of your soul.

[–] huquad@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 week ago

I can live with that

[–] limelight79@lemmy.world 57 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The Wii Fit game (I forget the actual name) let you enter your pets and track their weight. Then they'd sometimes show up and run beside you while you were running or cycling around the island. It was a great touch.

I can't fire it up to look. Our tabby that passed away in 2020 is probably still on there, as is our gray and white cat, who is not doing well - we're at the "keeping him comfortable" stage. (He's okay for now, he's still a happy cat, but he probably only has a few months left.)

Well now I'm sad thinking about every character and pet I've left behind.

Black mirror vibes.

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That was my first experience of death as a child. 5 year old me cried like a little bitch.

[–] negativenull@piefed.world 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

My son made me promise I'd watch his dinosaur Tamagotchi while he was at school. He was paranoid of it even getting hungry.

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 week ago (3 children)

You better hope and pray it doesnt die on your watch. Thats some canon-event level stuff.

[–] negativenull@piefed.world 17 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

It died when my son left it in his pocket and put it in the laundry to get washed.

That was a rough couple days.

I've never played one of these but I've repaired so so many in ReStory lol.

[–] GalacticGrapefruit@lemmy.world 35 points 1 week ago (6 children)

I kinda did the opposite of this with Undertale.

I had the game spoiled for me, so I just played the pacifist route. Every replay, pacifist. I thought about doing a neutral or a bad route, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.

Last time I opened the game, it was maybe my fourth or fifth time getting the good ending. I just left it there. Let them keep the world they deserved to have.

Yes, I know it's a stupid and illogical sentiment. Bite me.

[–] Baggie@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 week ago

Dude you've engaged with the main theme of the game. Doing a genocide route is literally about how your devalue your connection to the game and become something akin to a psychopath because of the desire to extract as much content out of it as possible. Nothing to be ashamed of by not doing that.

[–] Zarobi@aussie.zone 8 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I did normal first, then pacifist. I did 10% of genocide but it physically hurt me to do that and I just couldn't; so I watched a YouTube playthrough instead.

Tap for spoilerFlowey calls you out for being a coward even in the video for not being able to do it yourself πŸ˜‚

Man, I need to go feed my Neopets

[–] rbos@lemmy.ca 26 points 1 week ago

They're feral at this point. Probably an established food web.

[–] BlindPenguin@piefed.social 27 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Damn, i completely forgot about Pikachu. Had to revive him.

Welcome back, little guy.

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 27 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Remember to replace the batteries in your gameboy games.

[–] whyNotSquirrel@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

yeah but first: do you remember where I could have put them?

what's the deadline again?

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 27 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The deadline was a couple years ago...

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 week ago

My tomodogchis!

[–] AzuranAurora@piefed.ca 10 points 1 week ago

And also boot up any games on consoles with flash memory every now and then. 3DS games can brick themselves over time if not run for years.

[–] redditStinksSuperBad@lemmy.world 23 points 1 week ago (2 children)

i once had a cat follow me into the depths of a mine craft cave. I left him down there years ago and still think about him.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I guess the modern equivalent is uninstalling the game.
