I have a stupid conspiracy theory.
I believe they were trying to groom him to be the next Trump, and they wanted to duplicate the (also probably fake) assassination attempt and accidentally merc'd him.
So now they're just trying to make lemonade out of lemons.
If I'm right that means that once the next big election cycle goes through we shouldn't hear much more about him.

Yes, he was an extremist. And not the kind that's intellectually honest about it, despite the marketing - you'll notice he picked who got to ask him anything very carefully.
Of recent assassinations, it's the least bad one. If you think that's fucked up, refer to 4:30; it was a taste of his own medicine, at the very least.
