Space nazis? I hate Space nazis

[–] criscodisco@lemmy.world 7 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

All of the fat Space Force dorks are going to look like Göring walking around in this shit. It’s got jackboots ffs. Don’t see these guys mounting horses or motorcycles anytime soon as part of their duties.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

The Space Force proved its incompetence when they called their bases "Space Force Base" instead of "Star Base".

[–] Mycatiskai@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 hours ago

Space force isn't about stars it is about the space between the stars, and also about being a boondoggle distraction for this queen who loves the pomp and circumstance of a military force dressed like the SS. It gets his underwhelming chubby just hard enough for Natalie to service it.

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 17 points 6 hours ago

Stephen Miller is squirting all over himself at this one.

[–] J3N5T4R@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

Space Force?

🤣

As if the USA had any sort of capacity for that atm. Just another publicity stunt. Need to stay afloat on the churning media waters. That's what US "government" has come to. Well, not only that unfortunately.

Greetings to Hugo Boss btw, may he turn in his grave.

Hollywood spent 80 years copying and re-imagining nazi aesthetics, now the US government does the same.

We are plenty capable of launching rockets still. We just launched the Nancy Grace Roman Telescope last week. Probably the only decent thing this administration will "let" us engineers do in the next decade.

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 1 points 3 hours ago

capability ≠ capacity

[–] coolie4@lemmy.world 11 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

Space Force isn't new, it's been around since 2019. Everyone mocked the name back then, but I'm just pointing out its not a new publicity stunt.

There's even a Steve Carrell show about it, though I have no idea if its any good.

[–] Raven8628@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 hours ago

Space Forces in general aren't even a new thing. The Russian Space Force was originally founded in 1992 and re-established in 2015.

[–] Obituarykidney@lemmy.world 5 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

It was pretty good iirc. Mostly mocking the military than anything else. Cancelled after two seasons though so probs not worth watching anymore.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

The 2 seasons are both decent, but very different. The first was mocking the Trump administration and the Space Force, while the second was a little kinder as the administration had changed. It ended on a cliffhanger.

The first season has a scene with congressional testimony where Carrel's getting grilled on the cost of luxuries for people in space (specifically the extreme cost of Apples iirc), and he actually has a pretty decent speech justifying the occasional luxury for astronauts.

Disney should sue the US government

The AI didn’t have much else to work from.

[–] Godric@lemmy.world 17 points 8 hours ago

"Unveils" or "Shares a post from a rando at 3 a.m."?

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 16 points 9 hours ago

Paul Verhoeven entered the chat...

I made a whole ass movie about fascism in space... And yes, it was a warning from the moment the script was being written...

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 40 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

The point of that movie went over his head and hit a firefighter behind him.

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 23 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Boo for linking to the Torygraph

[–] nightwatch_admin@lemmy.world 23 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Well, it is news because even the Telegraph calls this a Nazi uniform.

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 9 points 7 hours ago

Sure, but in appreciative tones

[–] Nomad@infosec.pub 24 points 11 hours ago (3 children)

Dog whistle. Ice is the SA and space force will form the more elite SS. Himmler would be proud. And that they chose space force shows how dumb Trump acts through that all.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

Godwin's Law was cancelled in tiny-d donnie's first term.

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 5 points 7 hours ago

Sweet summer child, the time of dogwhistling is long gone.

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 30 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Dog whistle? It's a megaphone... "WE ARE NAZIS COME BE NAZIS WITH US"

[–] Nomad@infosec.pub 5 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

A dogwhistle is a more or less megaphone only dogs can hear. So you are right and wrong at the same time. A dog whistle is fucking loud, you just don't hear that.

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 6 points 7 hours ago

Yeah but we can hear it too.

[–] Thorry@feddit.org 12 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

The idea of a dog whistle is as you say only dogs hear it. So in the use case of Nazis letting each other know they are Nazis it's usually a subtle thing. A phrase or gesture that's innocent on the face of it, but signals to other Nazis they are Nazis. Like what they tried to do with the OK hand signal.

Putting up your hand and shouting Heil Hitler isn't really a dog whistle, as everyone knows at that point you are a Nazi.

[–] Nomad@infosec.pub 2 points 7 hours ago

Yeah I tend to agree. But a uniform somewhat looking like the SS uniform is not as obvious to everybody. Its at least plausibly deniable.

[–] AnalogAllamma@lemmy.world 9 points 10 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Sturgist@piefed.ca 12 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

To be fair? We did actually ZI this coming....

[–] AnalogAllamma@lemmy.world 9 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

You're right I just like saying that lol

[–] Sturgist@piefed.ca 7 points 8 hours ago

Oh, wasn't throwing shade buddy, I also get a giggle every single time.

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 15 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Stupid ass name, for one. Then the nazi aesthetic? Wow...

[–] Akasazh@lemmy.world 5 points 6 hours ago

Yeah, they should've gone with 'Space Squad', better acronym that way
