Can anyone tell me what the monument on the back is? The video and article cut that out from the explanation and I feel like its probably more interesting than some old dude.

"Our new $20 note is both visually stunning and more secure than ever."
Yeah, they're nice enough as a bank note goes, but I think "visually stunning" is a bit of an overstatement.
How about we just stop having foreigners on our money?
I do not welcome our teutonic overlords.
They made a pretty good choice with Viola Desmond for the 10.
King Charles is the traditional pick, but considering how well the $10 note was received, you'd think they'd pick someone better than the current king of England
They're going to put Terry Fox on the Five. I think will likely be better received.
I suspect once people are used to that, they'll make another try at replacing MacDonald on the Ten. If people get up in arms over that, then they have to explain why they were fine with removing Laurier, but are upset over removing MacDonald.
I misread traditional pick as traditional prick
The Bank of Canada has had at least one monarch on the bill face since its formation.
Still, it's the leader of our country.
Don't print too many
Just make sure they work in machines unlike the vertical 10...
Do we still use cash?!
Youβd be wise to keep some around for that rainy day.
I do occasionally. I get cash from relatives for my birthday and Christmas and still prefer to pay for cabs with cash. If I want cash, I usually take out $100 and spend cash til I run out. I have a full set of King Charles coins
Sole proprietors do.
The "GST discount". Heavily in use in rural areas.
I picked up a couple silver coins with his face on them. Low key hope he doesn't live long so they might be worth more.
I'm disappointed they didn't use his tampon likeness.
By "vertical" I suppose they mean that the portrait is sideways.
The bills are in portrait format, not landscape, yes.
Damn, now I'm gonna need taller wallet for my bills.
Very cool! Good job Canadian Bank Note! (The actual designer and printer of the notes)
Canadian* Bank Note does get feedback from Bank of Canada on designs so I'd say it was a group effort. It's strange that Bank of Canada likes taking all of the credit though.
I'm actually curious who specifically was the lead designer for this one, since Jorge Peral (who has designed all bank notes in recent history) retired before this note was released. I presume he had his hand in it, but how big was his role?
