Yeah, fuck the debt talk. We're a fiat country, talking about the debt is brainless nonsense.
We need to be spending money on things that build up America. If that means debt, it literally doesn't matter. Talk about the massive waste of money that were spending that debt on, instead.
Its a good thing you're spending on infrastructure and services then, and not just building massive amounts of debt due to reduced taxes on the wealthy, defence contracts, propping up AI, and funding the Trump family.
I think his point is, that's where the conservatives love to go. IE this image is most likely to be sent in a "we need to cut medicaid and social security" arguement, because that's what the conservatives do, they fearmonger about the deficate, slash everything that helps regular citizens and allows for the economy to grow in healthy ways, then stop talking about it when it's time to start a new war or pay for the crap that they want.
I mean, obviously we aren't. But framing that conversation in terms of debt is literally playing into fiscal conservative bullshit. The debt is meaningless, stop treating it like it's got any value in discussion
Slop
US Treasuries aren't THAT worthless.
THEY SAID WHAT THEY SAID
Would have been faster to just use a picture of the real thing then get the idiot machine to draw a picture of it!
There's 3x more taxpayers than citizens?
Got it backwards. There's 3X citizens than tax payers. Since there is less tax payers, they have to pay more.
Yeah, i think more specifically theyre going by people paying income taxes... it may include other categories, i think they have a giant companion methodology explainer somewhere.
I only clipped like 10% of the whole page, basically roughly what it initially was when this page was started... 20+ years ago, I don't know exactly.
Its since gotten ... a lot more stats added on to it.
I'm sure there's a more precise methodology to it. I'm just thinking a household of 4, 2 parents 2 children, that's only 2 tax payers since kids don't pay taxes.
You also gotta count all the retired / disabled / under the table employed.
Add them in and its more like 1:2 instead of 1:1.
Oh and also students that are full time students with no regular job at the same time.
Can he even count past 10?
