Got it backwards. There's 3X citizens than tax payers. Since there is less tax payers, they have to pay more.
Yeah, i think more specifically theyre going by people paying income taxes... it may include other categories, i think they have a giant companion methodology explainer somewhere.
I only clipped like 10% of the whole page, basically roughly what it initially was when this page was started... 20+ years ago, I don't know exactly.
Its since gotten ... a lot more stats added on to it.
I'm sure there's a more precise methodology to it. I'm just thinking a household of 4, 2 parents 2 children, that's only 2 tax payers since kids don't pay taxes.
You also gotta count all the retired / disabled / under the table employed.
Add them in and its more like 1:2 instead of 1:1.
Oh and also students that are full time students with no regular job at the same time.
