Pretty funny that people now say these fires and heatwaves are “due to the climate”. Have they been living under a stone? Meteorologists have been predicting exactly this situation for YEARS! Folks, this is manmade, CO2-based climate collapse happening right in front of us. And it will get worse.
Climate
Discussion of climate, how it is changing, activism around that, the politics, and the energy systems change we need in order to stabilize things.
As a starting point, the burning of fossil fuels, and to a lesser extent deforestation and release of methane are responsible for the warming in recent decades:

How much each change to the atmosphere has warmed the world:

Recommended actions to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the near future:

Anti-science, inactivism, and unsupported conspiracy theories are not ok here.
Yeah. I overheard someone say “I guess it’s due to the - oh what is it we’re supposed to say? (“Climate change?”) Yeah, climate change.”
Like, it wasn’t a fifty year old concept.
Ignorance is bliss. I envy these people sometimes, living under such a huge rock must be nice and cozy.
No no, not allowed to bring politics into this apparently.
Fucking bullshit, I vote green because no one else seems to really care.
Whether that makes sense depends a lot on which country. Some Green parties (Notably in the US) behave as if they're intentional spoilers to make the worst viable candidates win. Other countries, it makes a lot of sense.
UK green party
Know your constituency. They're viable in some, but not all.
Doesn't matter who I vote for here, no one I respect has any chance of winning, so I will just vote green as its +1 vote nationally I guess.
Well of England and Wales. Scottish Greens are a different party. Just to be pedantic
