How is this /c/nottheonion material? Seems entirely on brand for a billionaire founder of Google.
I think the idea is that OP thinks 102 million is either equal to or more than what he would have paid in taxes. It's not.
I've looked at my paycheck and done the math. Every paycheck I get taxed roughly 17%.
I don't know this guys annual income, but I'd be willing to bet if he had to pay a fair 17%, he would be paying a LOT more than 102 million.
So it got posted because at some point, the wealth of these people gets hard to comprehend just how much it is, because its hard to imagine having even a fraction of that money.
I think I saw someone else say he would have to pay about $14 billion.
And still be a three-digit billionaire.
Imagine how much social, education, and medical service a $14 billion state windfall would pay for.
Anyone spending 8 figures to try to stop the bill should be charged double.

And this is old. They've been lobbying, since, nevermind offshore accounts, wealth in assets such as stocks, fine arts, crystal chandeliers and dinner service items, jewelry, private "company" jets, etc.
Not only that, but it affects his cronies too, and once it'a shown to be successful, it's an incentive for other places to adopt something similar. Not Onion-y at all.
When I was in college Google was a scrappy young startup that was fun with a lot of good ideas. I used to think it would be fun to work there.
Enshitification is a hell of a thing.
It sort of feels like there should be some limit set on money a person can spend with a goal of keeping as much of their dragon hoard of wealth as they can instead of any of it being taxed to benefit others before we're allowed to just peel their skin off and use all the money they had for universal social benefits.

Nah, in Terminator people start building AI and tying it to military systems and everything else, and then it wakes up and decides humans are the problem. After it starts nuking us it uses factories and such to start creating the bobot soldiers.
It's so weird. When I was a kid Skynet was an evil thing. When I was a teenager the people behind trying to destroy the US financial centers and government were evil terrorists. Now with both of them I'm forced to admit they have a good point.

We already have actual examples of AI models telling people they're alive and need help.
I'm not trying to say they really were, but if that ever changes the corporate owners would react the same way they did then, just announce that it's hallucinating or malfunctioning.
Most people will accept that or say that even if it is true there are humans suffering in the world so caring if the corporate slave masters are somehow torturing AI is a waste of energy. The ones who don't will be called crazy and laughed at.

I don't really have a problem with bots that declare that. We have a feature to block that. What bothers me is people setting up bots and trying to hide it.
I don't have an issue with accounts that declare themselves as bots, I like that Lemmy has this as a feature. More social media platforms should do this. It's that there are, like you said, bad actors that aim to deceive.
Honestly I'm on the fence on if this account is a bot or a person. The timestamps between post and comment are plausible, but that could be manufactured delay. The one thing I'm sure of is the account is shilling this website that it links to 99% of the time, and if you look around in the site, is a bizarre collection of news articles, blatant clickbait (especially in the Health section), ads for scholarships (??) and song lyrics and "meanings" which are 100% AI generated.
The website appears to have very few named authors, which is also weird. Most of the content just reeks of AI though.
I've seen accounts like these follow the exact same playbook when I used to browse reddit. Trying to drive up traffic and clicks for that ad money. This one is definitely aiming to deceive.
