Wow, glad we got that cleared up in 2026.

The “everything causes autism” groupthink really downplays and distracts from the long-standing but poorly-communicated fact that circumcision offers no health benefit that regular bathing won’t cure.

[–] nagaram@piefed.social 19 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Its crazy to me that the ONLY serious reason anyone gives for why they get babies circumcised is

"I don't wanna tell my child how to clean their penis"

What a fucking shame. The child rearing fans really wanna make a whole child and then pay a doctor to mutilate them instead of acknowledge they have genitals!

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (9 children)

I’d assume it’s more like they don’t want to have to explain to their kid why their penis doesn’t look at all like Daddy’s. Not that it’s a much better reason, though. Curious how many non-circumcised fathers opt for their kids to be circumcised.

No if you ask almost every time they will site "hygiene issues"

Or they will say "women prefer it" or something insane.

And that's assuming they don't cite religion which is crazy in the US because Christianity does not in any way require it at its core.

Foreskins increase girth when rolled back.

Yeah but if the mutilating doctor is bad enough it becomes ribbed for her pleasure

Check mate atheists

Circumcision offers no actual benefit, yet carries the risk of life changing consequences. It's genital mutilation.

And even if they didn't see it as mutilation, what kind of an idiot decides that the first thing they need to give their baby is elective cosmetic surgery?

[–] Seppo@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 weeks ago

Religious cultists are literally clinically insane. There's no point in looking for reasons.

No, but it is still a barbaric practice that needs to end immediately.

[–] dandi8@fedia.io 29 points 2 weeks ago (5 children)

You still shouldn't mutilate a child's genitals unless medically necessary.

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 7 points 2 weeks ago

I am circumcised, autistic, and agree with you.

However it’s crazy dangerous for autistic kids for society to assign blame something clearly unrelated with what their parents believe is something wrong with their child.

It does, however, produce trauma

[–] pineapplelover@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] daggermoon@piefed.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Yup, can attest to that.

No, but it does cause genital mutilation

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 8 points 2 weeks ago

Sometimes I walk swinging my arms around as if they were just hanging from my upper torso. I apologize for the lewdness but I don't feel like I should chop them off.

Weird how no one ever mentions the ancient Jewish tradition of being the first to suck a baby's penis. But, I guess maybe that's because it's not as nasty as the ancient Jewish tradition of mutilating a baby's penis so he finds masturbation less pleasurable for his entire life, to show their parent's fealty to the god of suffering.

the mohel yells to the crowd, blood spilling down his grinning lips, as he surveys his community, spending extra time in eye contact, lavishing in the recognition from every man, woman, boy, and girl, as they squirm in the recognition that they are owned, wholly, by their pact with the war god, the god of sand and ash.

Edit: so there is no confusion, this is the Christian, Jewish, and Muslim god. I am not singling out those of Jewish faith. yhwh's gift of suffering, though experienced by us all thanks to his followers, is experienced by none more than those in the three branches of his death cult.

Not the onion? The fuck‽

[–] remon@ani.social 7 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Who the hell thought that it did?

Of course it’s this dumb motherfucker.

Reminds me of this lesson in my middle school biology class where they were talking about cutting the tails off of mice did not cause the mice’s offspring to not have tails. We learned this in middle school.

They are quite famously pro circumcision.

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

🤔 I'm pretty sure they didn't know what autism was when they invented circumcision.

... so? Female genital mutilation doesn't cause autism either, but we don't use that to make it seem alright.

[–] Jankatarch@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Try it for every condition one by one.

[–] FluidBeef@quokk.au 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Maybe they should just stop all this and check whether nuerodivergent people might possibly have other nuerodivergents in their family.

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Hey, my parents were perfectly normal! My dad liked to spend hours in the basement playing with his model train set, just like my grandpa.... Ohh shit.

[–] mirshafie@europe.pub 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

We're not becoming more aware of neurological differences and diagnosing, we're just becoming less tolerant. Change my view.

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I dunno man, it felt pretty intolerant of people who treated me poorly back when I was just considered "weird", compared to how I'm treated now that I have a known condition. I feel way more accepted now than back before people understood what this all was. Now I have all kinds of tools to help me cope that I never had access to before.

It's just another form of religious genital mutilation.

No autism conspiracy required to object.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 2 points 2 weeks ago

People will think anything other than they are undiagnosed and passed it on genetically...
