  • still counts if he is VP in '28 or '32
  • had to get the take in at the last second tonight before he wins the primary tomorrow
  • inb4 "he isn't a socialist" i know, im not wish casting, just saying what is 70% likely to happen.
  • inb4 "electing succdems won't make the revolution" i know, im not wish casting, just saying what is 70% likely to happen
  • imo a succdem imperial core is far preferable to a fascist one, from any non-fascist perspective.

Edit: I miswrote my statement last night. If AOC wins, she will be running for a second term. If she doesn't win, the path is clear for AES.

2028 Will be Newsome vs some maga person wearing trumps skin. Unless Newsome decides being president isn’t worth messing up his skin routine

Could very much see it, but i think El-Sayed would successfully primary him for a second term in '32 if Newsom wins the general.

My dream: some tepid social democrat gets nominated, but this is so outrageous for the DNC that the party splits between liberals and progressives.

[–] free_casc@hexbear.net 1 points 7 hours ago

This is very possible, the DSA party will win if that happens.

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 7 hours ago

and i am convinced the US will still be bombing the global south if that happens.

AOC needs to be VP for 2 terms. Why? So she can be Big P the next 2 terms. Why? So we'll have those 16 to years to use to have the constitution amended to create a new elected office for the role of Supreme Leader. Why? So we can elect AOC for supreme leader. Why? Communism.

It's going to be Newsome

If AOC miraculously becomes the Dem candidate, everyone to the right of Bernie Sanders (so 99% of the country) will rally behind JD Vance or whoever the Republicans field. Every single media outlet will work to prevent someone even moderately progressive from winning.

If you are paying attention, you will see that they are losing. Gaza and Iran have pierced the veil of what the media are able to contain.

[–] marxisthayaca@hexbear.net 2 points 7 hours ago

They are in power, you do realize they are not trying that hard?

If AOC convinces the dem machine she won't do much of anything much less be a radical - I can't predict what will happen. Maybe she does have a 30% chance.

But my assumption is that boldfaced name dems think AOC is the devil and they worry about her. If they think she might push the party "too far" to the left - say as much as one centimeter - they'd prefer a GOP president over her. If she gains momentum and they worry she could be a top candidate as the dem nominee - they'll do everything to destroy her.

The Dem machine is collapsing, if you haven't noticed, it's not 2020 or even 2024 anymore. El-Sayed is going to beat $50m of AIPAC funding tonight because the liberal establishment have lost control.

This is not revolutionary, the people simply yearn for social democracy, but they are going to vote their way into it within a decade.

The Dem machine is collapsing,

I hope you're right. But I'm still very pessimistic.

The libshit will continue for sure, just from a socdem angle instead a corporate suit angle. I do think the difference is substantial though.

The 2026 elections are almost here. The real fight will be what happens beyond that to 2028, etc. The MSM effectively does oppo research against leftists and then lies and pass it off as "journalism". That behavior is many decades old. What worries is is the insane amount of money and resources the lib donor class has. They own newspapers and tv stations, etc. It's easy as pie for them to use that try to destroy leftist politicians. I can't explain what I mean very well because my insomnia is very bad and muddles my thinking.

Ninja edit. In other words... Starting in the 2028 campaigns - the lib donor class does a ginormous amount of lib hasbara. I want to have a positive outlook but I think they have a great chance of succeeding a lot of the time.

Yes but independent left media (Hasan, dropsite, even liberals like Don Lemon) are gaining viewership and credibility as they push back. The establishment has no argument besides "Trump voters don't want socialism" (not even true), and "Hasan is an antisemite who said America deserves 100 9-11s" (nobody cares, when they hammered "hasan bad" in Michigan, El-Sayed was blasted from third into first place).

There is $50m in AIPAC money backing Stevens, but she is going to lose tonight. This will win sometimes, but liberal VOTERs largely agree with our domestic vision, and they are coming around on foreign policy too (to an extent!).

I agree with Hasan's quote from this last weekend that the 2028 nominee will not be pro-Israel as a matter-of-fact. The liberals love Mamdani who gives the DSA good press. The ones that don't will suck it up for El-Sayed who is not a DSA guy, but never punches to his left. Not saying the Zionist entity will be dismantled (the axis of resistance will probably be dealing with that more directly), but the aid will never flow so easily again.

Us socialists understand the material underpinning of capitalism better than our opposition. In the globalized, internet connected information age, our message is starting to travel faster than they can keep up with.

Governor Trillionaire in '28 would be the worst possible outcome so I'm going to call it now. Maybe AOC will be his running mate.

[–] Blep@hexbear.net 6 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Trumps corpse will in in 28

[–] GenderIsOpSec@hexbear.net 4 points 16 hours ago

fuck they're going to make those "God-Emperor Trump" memes into reality aren't they?
