This graph is great at showing a selective part of reality. Free market thinking and capitalism tend to do well on those.
So. Supply is bigger than in 2014? I don't think demand is in decline.
So drug trafficking gangs found better ways to move their product into the target countries.
Much bigger supply, higher quality, lower prices.
Basically they just produce way more than before.
How can purity go above 100? Is this concentrated cocaine? Supposed to water it down first or something?
100 is the relative purity and price in 2014.
Would like to see absolute numbers.

In the past decade or two, it has increased from 30-50% to 70-80%. Plenty of sources on this.

This is a relative scale. 100 being the baseline.
So a random sample will contain 1.4 times as much coke, for 80% of the cost.

Presumably 40% less non-coke inclusion. So if before it was 90% coke and 10% cut, it'd be 94/6

It's impossible to get more than roughly 85-90% purity as that's the purity they export.
That makes a lot more sense. Or the quality was originally absolutely terrible.
It clearly says 2014=100. Ergo a value of 160 is 3222.4 on the purity scale. You're going to need a lot of water.
For our purposes, 140 will do fine.
