Sorry, I'm a millennial who grew up with emoticons Bโ -โ ), so when emoji came along ๐, I've loved using them every since. But I realize among most crowds they can come across as not very serious, lol. If you know me, all my emoji make perfect sense. ๐
I'm old too, how did you get this far without the crutch of irony?
Oh I use plenty of irony. I just use it very obviously. "You'll know ๐คก๐๐คช" when I use it. Also highly contextual. Sometimes I won't need to use formatting or emoji, the context and knowing me will be enough.

When I first looked at the Steam Deck, I thought for sure the track pads would be terrible. I expected them to be uncomfortable and clunky and horrible to use for any extended period of time, only useful for getting through some launchers on or doing some quick configuration. I expected to use an external mouse or the touch screen for any serious mousing.
I eventually bought it and was completely wrong. The first game I played fully on the Deck was a tower defense game called Dinosaurs Go Home! (I had gotten it in a Humble Bundle). It was pretty much entirely played using the right track pad, and it was fantastic. Sometimes for FPS's I'll even use the right stick as a coarse control and the right track pad as a fine control. When I play emulators, the track pads are radial menus to control save states and emulation speed.
All this to say- I know this looks ridiculous, but I have learned to not make such assumptions. This could totally be useful for a lot of applications. Heck, sometimes at work it gets really annoying to keep moving my right hand between my mouse and the keyboard, and this would eliminate that.
Ok this is obviously ridiculous but your tongue is actually really dextrousย so it might be functional, if complete absurd.

As the subtitle reads, this is accessibility tech and very obviously pretty useful for people who can't use neither hands nor feet for that.
My point was not well communicated: I was joking that this tech, which is already perfectly useful, might actually turn out to be more accurate for gamers despite the idea of using this device without a need being apparently absurdist, because our tongues are much more dextrous than people realize.
As babies we put everything in our mouths. Your tongue knows what everything would feel like. For large parts of human history it was normal to put an unknown object in your mouth to investigate it (the species eventually caught on that this is dangerous).
