who in the government leaked information about the security deficiencies of a Qatari-gifted airplane meant to be used as Air Force One

...Is that a leak? You don't exactly need to be an OpSec professional to see what a stupid fucking idea that is.

[–] TryingToBeGood@reddthat.com 32 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I mean, yeah, obviously a plane made by a foreign country is not going to have all the security and defensive capabilities of one made in the US, because we're not about to give all that trade secret/top secret information to a foreign country to put that stuff on the plane.

[–] em2@lemmy.ml 24 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Omg the leak was you!!! Turn over your phone.

[–] TryingToBeGood@reddthat.com 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

-smashes phone with hammer-

What phone?

[–] ByteJunk@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago (2 children)

You're looking kinda immigrant to me. Here, come with us so you're not seen again for the next 6 months, if ever.

[–] Nouvellalia@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

6 months? Who you know that got out of the concentration camps?

What poster?

[–] chaogomu@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

There's also the fact that we know the full providence of this plane, it wasn't built for Trump, it was built for some other rich asshole and then ended up sort of being a drain on Qatar, so they White Elephanted it.

[–] deacon@lemmy.world 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yeah it’s weird they are acting like that’s a scandal now when all that has happened is what every rational person assumed would happen taking a country’s most important aircraft from a foreign nation - months ago.

[–] justaman123@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It's just more flooding the zone, I kind of suspect that on his Thursday press release he's gonna start talking about aliens

[–] 0x0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Sasquatch is real and ICE will not rest until they've deported him to Guatemala

He was in Portland, had his hair up in a bun and wore timberlands. Every time I spotted him he blew a whistle and had a bunch of crackheads beat the shit out of me and steal my left shoe. What the hell was he gonna do with my left shoe, no way his big feet were gonna fit him.

This is a reference to a comic.

[–] NuXCOM_90Percent@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (3 children)

I mean, based on publicly available criteria and descriptions... it probably is.

Its one thing for you or I to say "That plane probably has a deficiency in its countermeasures" because we have no inside information and no way to really have any. And no reputable news outlet would run that story.

But for somebody who works in the government who WOULD be privvy to that information to say it? It holds a lot more weight and provides a vulnerability that could lead to the death of the president (which, for the purposes of all the fbi agents reading this: would be bad).

Its obviously a temper tantrum by said potus because he can't show off the expensive gift his new beau gave him. And there are some very serious questions about how anyone signed off on him flying in it at all (for MANY reasons...). But... this kinda IS a pretty serious leak.

Its similar to how you or I can talk about how John Hinckley Jr was told to bust a cap in reagan's ass by his robot dog and it isn't an issue. But if George HW Bush started talking about how his dinner guest's brother was being manipulated by a robot dog?

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 6 points 3 days ago

Ah, but you forget that an ignorant opinion is just as important as an expert analysis.

/S hopefully superfluous

(which, for the purposes of all the fbi agents reading this:

[–] socsa@piefed.social 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No. It's absolutely a matter of public concern. More people than just the president fly on that plane, and it is plainly obvious that his tantrum put those people at risk, and it took going to the media to get the issue taken seriously. If adults were in charge this would never have been an issue. This is what corruption gets you. Stop defending it.

[–] NuXCOM_90Percent@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago

... Someone providing additional context is not "defending" something. And maybe think how that mindset relates to the folk who scream "fake news" and "college is liberal brain washing".

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Don't forget... They are ALL plotting against you... They are poisoning your food, your diapers, your hand makeup... Nowhere is safe and nobody is an ally. They are all trying to get you, donald... Don't sleep or they'll get you... The secret service especially, nowhere is safe, donald... They are laughing at you, donald... Putin and netanyahu are going to release those videos, Donald... They're ALL coming for you, donald...

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

I'm coming for him.

[–] Shumina@lemmus.org 3 points 3 days ago

Haha. If he could read, this would have been pretty darn funny.

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 3 points 3 days ago

Unfortunately, he fell asleep at your 5th word

[–] wuffah@lemmy.world 31 points 4 days ago (3 children)

Organizations with bad leaders leak because no one believes in doing the bad things that the bad leaders want.

And this organization is leaking like sieve.

[–] bradinutah@thelemmy.club 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Since the Donvict's incompetence in picking leaders has gone as expected we ought to expect the leaking to continue. They'll put a hand over one of the many many pinpricks and declare victorious mission accomplished. Another reason for Trumpepstein to be jealous of 'Obamna.'

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

To be fair, Obama was also very harsh towards whistleblowers

[–] Shumina@lemmus.org 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Is..that what you’re doing though? Being fair?

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 days ago
[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 days ago

because no one believes in doing the bad things that the bad leaders want.

And yet they continue to fucking do it.

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Unfortunately, if that were true, we'd have the Epstein files

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'd bring a burner phone to work at the FBI, take pictures of the screen when the saucy shit turned up, but if you did that you'd likely get tried for treason and hanged.

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 2 points 2 days ago

Doubtful. Nobody's been hanged in the US for anti trump politics.

Much more likely that ICE would just murder you.

[–] deft@lemmy.wtf 21 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (3 children)

I hear putting a clothespin on the tip can help with leaks

Yeah that's good for my peenits but what about my camelbak

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 2 points 3 days ago

They lack the extra length to fold over a few times though.

Ah so Trump did fuck kids.. iiinteresting

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

The real crime is that someone told on him!

[–] Gerudo@lemmy.zip 12 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Yeah cause when I leak sensitive data, I use my work devices....

Idiots

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Well, I mean, they are idiots. So probably they would.

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They could, you know, ask the CIA or the NSA or the FBI...

Thing is, I don't think they trust them.

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 1 points 2 days ago

Yeah, that's why ICE was given brown shirts

It's not a real leak unless it's on war thunder

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe 9 points 3 days ago

They eat each other.

[–] AccoSpoot1@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Gangster presidency

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago (3 children)

So like, sure Trump might love to fly in this and have some wink wink nudge nudge... okay well ignore that part, has a blatant deal with them, I can't imagine how any other president/vice-president would ever fly in it. You could never really trust that the Qatari couldn't somehow disable the plane at will.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Had any other president even accepted it, they would have excoriated them. And rightfully so.

This fucking guy gets a free pass for the most egregious corruption that this nation has ever seen. It's sickening.

100% that too.

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Literal convicted rapist!

Ok.

[–] Barbarian@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 days ago

Or, far more likely, installed some devious listening device somewhere that records and occasionally phones home.

LoL, good luck. When you piss off everyone, then everyone is gonna be wanting to piss on you. Metaphorically speaking, of course. I'm not kink shaming.

[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 3 points 3 days ago

OK shut it down.
