The crab literally comes from the music video for Crab Rave by Noisestorm. But on the Internet, we use it to celebrate the downfall of a contemptable person.

E.g. fuck Lindsay Graham, I'm glad he's dead 🦀

[–] socsa@piefed.social 3 points 2 weeks ago

Reddit bans you if you celebrate when evil people die, so people started using the crab dance meme as an implied form of celebration.

Idk but the comments on this are pretty amusing - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cE0wfjsybIQ

Brief and sudden illness? Fine, I'll take it but I'd much prefer a long, painful, debilitating and devastating illness...
Oh well, fingers crossed for that orange Fatboy McKiddieFiddler. Come on, devastating illness, you can do it!!

Don't speak ill of the dead and all... but I would shit on this loser's grave if given the opportunity. Those are about the nicest words I can stomach.

[–] TaterTurnipTulip@lemmy.world 29 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

We should speak ill of the dead more often. We should never forget what wretched people some of them are. And save some room on the grave for the rest of us to drop trou and honor this fascist in the proper way.

[–] mr_account@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

110% agree. Being dead neither absolves someone of their actions, nor fixes the pain and damage they've willingly inflicted on others. If you don't want people to speak ill of you after you die, live a life that reflects it.

[–] Rawrosaurus@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

We should speak ill of the dead. We should not let the fucked up shit they perpetrated be forgotten. We need to speak ill of them and remember them to do better than them.

I would consider the whole "Don't say anything bad about them now that they're dead" is a huge contributor to so much bullshit. It encourages forgetting their crimes.

"I was always taught never to say anything about the dead unless it’s good. He’s dead. Good!"

[–] HerbGrower@slrpnk.net 5 points 2 weeks ago

Don’t speak ill of the dead and all

Why? I am happy saying some people deserve it.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

I like to focus on good things people have done.

He died.

[–] robocall@lemmy.world 18 points 2 weeks ago

What a pleasant surprise!

My respect for Etsy Witches is growing.

Wow. Graham and McConnell dead in the same summer. What a great time to be alive. Suddenly everything is a little brighter. I can hear birds singing.

There is the rule of 3, so 1 more repub politician and 1 more female hit singer. After the lady from 'party rock anthem,' and bonnie Tyler from 'total eclipse of the heart.'

[–] db2@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Lets have 3 more geriatric psychopath politicians instead of that third singer though

[–] Notyou@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 weeks ago

Maybe just kid rock and call it a day.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Well they die in threes so who last evil person to go?

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Well, one out of two so far.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 13 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

So who had Graham in the betting pool? He was long shot at 71. He was just a kid.

[–] CptOblivius@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

He was barely old enough for Congress. Another 15 years and he would have been in his prime!

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Was he the one who was at Disneyworld during his government shutdown paid vacation?

[–] mirshafie@europe.pub 3 points 2 weeks ago

He was at Disneyworld alone, playing like a child.

"I have never wished for a man's death, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure." - Mark Twain

This right here? This is what he was talking about.

[–] Manjushri@piefed.social 2 points 2 weeks ago

Clarance Darrow said it. It wasn't Twain.

[–] socsa@piefed.social 9 points 2 weeks ago

Fucked to death by a gorilla is what I'm hearing.

[–] limer@lemmy.ml 8 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Can you imagine the absolute panic, of some, if another dies soon; (and the wild celebrations by others)

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 2 weeks ago

If you get invited to MAGA's "Weekend at Mitch's" Party, don't go.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 weeks ago

It was from a blood sacrifice to try to raise mcturtle

[–] ericatty@infosec.pub 3 points 2 weeks ago

So this post is how I found out this happened for real.
CNN article makes it sound like someone called 911 for chest pains around 8:30p last night. The person calling was driving to Graham's house and thought the door would be unlocked. It was not. EMTs arrived and did chest compressions
