Clarification for all that are as confused by the headline as I have been:
It actually is about the DuckDuckGo browser which apparently is a thing as I've learned now...
News community around technology, social media platforms, information technology and governmental policy surrounding it.
The core of the story has to be technology focused.
Title format
Post title should mirror the news source title. If you don't like the title of article, look for an alternative source instead of editorializing it.

So far so good!
I use the DDG on my mobile, Android, for my daily driver browser. It just works. I think they have some form of "AI" but it's easily avoidable.
Search is comparable to G@@&)3 but isn't (as far as i know) tracking you.
I can't say much because I do not search for many things; however, I do get results and they are helpful and not advertisements.
Hope this tracks and is helpful!
I don't quite get the point on platforms on which less limited options (like FF + uBlock + any search engine you want set as standard) are available. Main selling point is convenience, I guess?
Diversity is fine because sometimes, a good thing changes quite suddenly for the worse. Firefox got a bit of heat when they implemented AI in the browser, even if it's off by default, a lot of people decided that was too much of a bad sign and jumped to other browsers. Having options to satisfy your trust is good.
I think the main selling point is awareness, at this point. Offer up the product to the public to show them what they've consented to with using Chrome / Edge / Firefox.
They trout the privacy features, as they should - but a more advanced user can get better results with Firefox and an array of extensions.
Is it open source?
yeah, it's on f-droid afaik. i believe it's a simple webview wrapper and not really a full browser.
That's interesting. Looks like a nice one to recommend to non tech savvy people who wouldn't b able to install ublock on their own
installing firefox from google.play (or fennec from f-droid or whatever fenix build) and adding ublock origin from addons menu should be pretty straightforward i believe
honestly not sure if the ddg browser can be recommended, especially because webview is ancient and not updated on quite a few android phones
IDK, just installing a browser plugin sounds to me a lot easier than completely switching browsers to a niche one...
And a pretty good browser at that
whoa -- just found out DDG browser is supported on Android and iOS
game changer
How long before we get the feature in LibreWolf?
Librewolf has uBlock builtin already, which is probably superior to a solution based on system-wrapper-browsing (in the most cases built on restricted chrome engines) like the DuckDuckGo browser does.
It's actually the main reason I am using LibreWolf on my company laptop, as installation of external browser plugins is disabled there...
you can just install ublock origin? or you're looking for something builtin?
Not even a need to install it, as Librewolf has uBlock integrated in the standard installation already.
I wonder if Google would try to "punish" DuDuckGo for such ragebaiting actions.
That's cool and all, but being able to block YouTube ads in my browser has been table stakes from the beginning, so I'm already set
Helium
It's being like that for a long time, and for some reason when I watch YouTube on duck duck go I got related videos on my TV and I don't even use a google account.
