Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Rape children - no worries. Touch algae pond - believe it or not, straight to jail.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 38 points 5 days ago

Rape algae pond? Straight to the Cabinet.

If it makes you feel any better, DC juries will laugh this out of court if the judges don't first.

[–] artyom@piefed.social 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I wish I had this kind of confidence in our criminal justice system

[–] socsa@piefed.social 1 points 4 days ago

They've been pretty consistent so far, refusing to indict in a few similar cases and then acquitting the ham sandwich guy.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 4 days ago

I guess they better hope they're afforded due process then. Not a guarantee anymore in the US.

One dead baby duck was caught floating in the pool over the weekend, though the cause of death was unclear.

Did they charge it with vandalism too?

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 22 points 5 days ago

No, RFK Jr just put it in his freezer for later.

[–] thesohoriots@lemmy.world 16 points 5 days ago

It possessed preen oil, a common antifa material for Molotov quacktails

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Considering how many chemicals they dumped in there I'm surprised they found only one.

[–] AbouBenAdhem@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

The rest of its brood had already dissolved.

[–] mech@feddit.org 5 points 4 days ago

No, with pterorism

[–] Jimbabwe@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

Officially charged with wading and abreading

Arrest a bunch of random people with great fanfare in order to preserve the optics of his claim. Then quietly release them with no media attention because there's obviously no evidence because it's all clearly covering up for incompetence.

Here's where that's troubling...

It's a very small step between releasing them and making them disappear so that they don't talk to the media afterwards

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago

Exactly. Tyranny.

It will be interesting to see the algae "disappear" with the next round of wasted money.

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago

With how his cult is, making them disappear is probably just too much trouble. His audience is gullible enough they likely don't even need to make arrests, though.

This further fans the flames of the demise in U.S. tourism. What a bunch of idiots, no plans to ever go down there ever again.

[–] nymnympseudonym@piefed.social 6 points 5 days ago

I think there is a market for tourists who want to show their support for TEAM ALGAE!!

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 17 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (2 children)

They should be arresting Donvict and his pool boy.

[–] artyom@piefed.social 9 points 5 days ago (1 children)

They did, and they convicted him with 34 felony crimes, and yet...

[–] shittydwarf@piefed.ca 2 points 5 days ago

Somehow the child rapist returned

This is the guy lol

[–] PalmTreeIsBestTree@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago (2 children)

At this point stay the fuck away from the national mall if you can help it or D.C. entirely. Place is a total shit show.

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)
[–] mriormro@lemmy.zip -1 points 4 days ago

This is dumb. Stop being dumb.

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 14 points 5 days ago (2 children)

250 foot long gash? This claim sounds pretty sus. Wanna bet they’re arresting people who are ripping off the peeling rhino liner for souvenirs?

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 27 points 5 days ago (1 children)

They're arresting people who just stopped and touched a piece to inspect it.

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago

Yeah, that sounds about right.

When I saw people ripping off the floating liner, I immediately thought “they’re going to try to blame the bad work on these people”

[–] mufkin@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 days ago

lol I think you are right.

[–] TryingToBeGood@reddthat.com 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Of all the stupid shit…in a few weeks these people will be in court with the judge laughing everyone out of the room.

[–] mech@feddit.org 9 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Meanwhile they'll have lost their job, with it their health insurance, possibly their apartment,...

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

You can beat the rap but you can't beat the ride

[–] TrollTrollrolllol@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

And it turns out the ride fucks you over more then the rap could.

[–] TryingToBeGood@reddthat.com 1 points 4 days ago

Well , not for something like this. The olympian was held for five hours and released. Hearing date is July 9. If he even has an employer (he may be retired), his boss would just laugh if he said, “Yeah, so I got arrested, and this is why…” (Now, if he’d been arrested on suspicion of murder or something, that would be another issue altogether.)

[–] Bebopalouie@lemmy.ca 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Anything they can do to try and take peoples minds off the Epstein files.

[–] Wataba@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 days ago

While he gears up for even more war crimes as a big distraction (and the next wave of stock market manipulation). This is a small one blown sk far out of proportion.

[–] Hikermick@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I say this as someone who longs for the day when Trump is a thing of the past like when someone brings up Covid these days. Also I have nearly 30 years in the water treatment business and algae is a nemesis during the summer months. To have such a problem with algae so soon after refilling it is odd. I don't buy the idea that it was living in pipes that weren't cleaned. If true high phosphate levels are suspicious. The water evaporation claim is BS too.

[–] NihilsineNefas@slrpnk.net 4 points 4 days ago

a thing of the past like when someone brings up Covid these days

Oh, you sweet summer child. I don't want to burst your bubble, but Coronavirus is still detectable in the sewage systems of america and worldwide, which means people are still getting infected.
