The example cited makes it seem like they are deflating game prices.

How has an MFN clause adversely impacted competition in this instance?
Valve does not decide how much the games cost, its the publisher Microsoft of the games. And why is Microsoft singled out here? This is true for every other publisher as well, including Sony and third parties. There is no evidence for the claim that has been made. You can't accuse being in a cartel just because you had a bad dream. Sounds like made up arguments.
Probably either aiming for deep pockets that they think would be willing to pay them to dismiss the suit, or someone behind the scenes trying to target those companies with bad press.
It’s hard to tell with Microsoft since they’re always out shooting themselves in the foot publicly, but I’ve noticed an interesting recent uptick in articles trying to target Valve and Steam with bad press.
LMAO, if there were any legitimate signs of collusion they would have been revealed during discovery of the other pointless lawsuits.
What a weak argument.
Gabe follower...
Fucking loser alias holy shit.
Why is "Gabe follower" a loser alias?
Replace "Gabe" with "Taylor." Celebrity worship is always lame. I can't imagine being so obsessed with anyone that I'd make a social media account about them
Why someone becomes a follower of GabeN?
It's Gabe Follower...
I know and your reply still does not answer my question.
The answer is plain to those with the eyes to see it... Or something.
I don't get it. What's wrong with it? If it is that clear, could you explain it to me?
There's nothing to explain. I guess the idea of someone who just follows Gabe Newell is funny and could be interpreted as lame. It's not that deep.
But that still does not answer my question as to why that is "lame" (or in other words "loser"). So in this entire conversation and reply chain, you just wasted my time? If you don't gonna answer the question, why do you keep these "lame" replies then? I just asked a simple question, didn't I? And if it is relaly obvious and easy to see, how does it come you can't explain it? Seems like a paradox to me.
Christ... You should learn to disengage.
You should also learn to disengage if you have no answer and nothing to add to the discussion.
But I'm having fun.
So you troll and waste time then... alright.
Yeah, scold me, I love it.
why would you be a follower of a billionaire?... that's the lame part.
For news? Is this a joke or what is this?
sure buddy
Yeah, you tell em! Sitting in the corner of your bedroom facing the corner while someone you met on craigslist has sex with your partner is something winners do too! You can't just call someone a loser for having their lunch money stolen and wearing a t-shirt with their bullies name on it!
Remember 2012?? Bacon narwhal! Le steam sale epic! I love Gabe! I love billionaires!
wtf
Not very quick on your feet are ya
Sounds like “Gay Boner” if you say it too fast.
How? Maybe my pronunciation is different from yours (Germany here). I tried it out and it doesn't sound like "Gay Boner" on my end.
Gay Baller maybe would work
Doesn’t valve itself have a rule that you can’t sell the product for lower in other locations? It has to remain the same? So how was this collusion ? I don’t understand.
Only for Steam keys
Yes, that's the "collusion". Pretty much every platform has similar rules. I don't think collusion is the right word, as that implies some sort of agreement between them, when in reality they each just have the same agreement. But I do think it's a valid complaint and the implications of such a suit are wide-reaching for that reason.
No, Valve's rule is that you can't sell Steam keys at a lower price in different places. You can sell the game at any other price without the potentially-unlimited Steam keys they provide to devs.
Oh. Okay cool that makes sense
i thought it was steam keys you couldn't undercut on.
Yes, there is a rule and contract when selling games on Steam. Microsoft knew this day one, as any other publisher (not sure why Microsoft is singled out here). Valve wants to have price parity of games sold on Steam and other stores. But exceptions are made for short term sales.
Replace Steam with Epic Games and the same people brushing this off in the comments will be completely convinced that there’s some sort of collusion.
Am I the only one who thinks this is one market that we can't complain about prices on? In the mid 90s premium games were 60-70 dollars. Like super Mario bros 3 was 70 dollars. Now current premium games are 60-70 base price(not including dlc). Thats not counting the tons of games for less than 20 these days. In 30 years prices have mostly gone done despite inflation. Imagine if that was true for cars, or houses or even dog food ...
Why did you put gamers in scare-quotes?
