Pads started peeling and shedding plastic everywhere. We didn't want to get replacements so I peeled off all the plastic, kept the cushions and used an old jean with some wool to make it better than it was before.

I have 25 year old Grados that still have their original pads. I don't know why AKG couldn't even stand 4 years of occasional use ๐Ÿคท

When my headphones did this I first started looking for new ones.. then it hit me, I can just buy replacement ear pieces. They were like $10

That's really cool that you managed to implement that solution, but as an autistic man with texture issues...ew denim ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

what texture would you prefer?

Probably a smooth cotton or polyester blend. Just...not denim ๐Ÿ˜…

AKG has dogshit pads. Mine started peeling after a year. Replaced them with some cheap pads and have been solid for the last 5 years

It's why they didn't even put pads on the K1000s lmao

Did you notice any sound difference?

I love the creativity but does it not destroy sound isolation?

My own earpads go to shit about every three years. I wear glasses and I'm convinced that contributes to it. Cheap 60 second job to replace them though and always feels so good.

my favorites, grados, are on ear. These are never used outside, so isolation isn't a necessity.

If you need isolation, jeans wouldn't be the best choice i assume.
