Probably not in this one much, but fuck the gators either way

Well that one stung. But we are who they thought we were. All week I was chugging the rat poison. Everyone saying our offense can roll, OUs offense can't stack pillows, vols by fiddy, all of it. And I knew it was rat poison, I even pointed it out when I saw it. But there was so much. It overcame my tolerance. And when we went up 7 early my I totally let my guard down. And then it happened. That game was a special kind of oof. Here are a few of the things I'm feeling as a vol.

"Our defense is bad" "How bad is it?" "Its so bad it cost us a season". Seriously, the offense is certainly not infallible (we'll get there). But it is absolutely good enough to win any game with decent defensive play. But outside of the dline we are below average at best. I get that the outside is young because of injury, but that doesn't excuse dreadful play there and throughout the secondary. Blown coverages and missed tackling are the defining characteristics of the Tennessee defense. Not turnovers, TFLs or defensive points like it could and should be.

We've found Aguliar's ceiling. And he's good enough to win when he's given time. But Sanders going down certainly revealed our oline woes. This has been the biggest weakness of the vols year over year and I have confidence it's getting better. But a good dline like OUs is primed to blow us out of the water. And when Joey is under pressure and playing from behind he will make poor and poorly informed throws. I think at one point we were minus three in the turnover department last night. 2 picks and a strip sack. But even then Heupel can scheme up a win. But the play-makes gotta make plays and just when I was ready to say our receivers are catching balls one of the most heartbreaking plays I've seen drives in the dagger. I'll update this post with the sideline reaction when I find it.

And the last 10 minutes of this game were insane. The football gods were just taunting us. Keeping us just barely in the game but constantly acting as Lucy to our Charlie Brown right when I thought we might somehow do it.

That was a tough one, still some fun games ahead of us. But that one stung. I'm working today so banner and sidebar updates won't come until tonight. Have fun vol h8rs.

Was going through and watching some of the other games from last weekend when I saw this.

What's this? Officiating accountability? Better be careful SEC, listening to the fans and preserving historic rivalries might be next.
