Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

"Unusual" is a funny way to spell "nakedly corrupt."

[–] tacoplease@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Senate Republicans whine ~~Revolt~~Over Trump’s ~~Unusual~~ Illegal $1.8 Billion Fund

Fixed.

[–] hanrahan@piefed.social 14 points 12 hours ago

If they're not doing anything to stop it, complicit is the correct word.

[–] Arghblarg@lemmy.ca 45 points 15 hours ago

Unless they're actively moving to remove him from power, "revolt" is not really the correct word. They're complicit in everything else.

[–] BigMacHole@thelemmy.club 18 points 14 hours ago

They're revolting SO MUCH that there going to do NOTHING to Stop it!

Unusual

That's a weird way to spell "obviously illegal"

[–] DeepThought42@lemmy.world 24 points 15 hours ago

"massive fraud" would also be a good, alternative spelling

[–] ruuster13@lemmy.zip 4 points 12 hours ago

It's the rallying cry of white nationalists- the Confederacy. They're beating their war drums while draining the USA's war funds.

The "settlement" documents don't show any limited amount

This is the death of the federal congress legislative branch with the executive branch able to directly access and distribute usd to whoever for whatever with no oversight, tracked by secret reports to the acting head of the doj

But they will still kiss his ass. Their knees have been worn away so much from kneeling down to this orange fuckhead in the White House, they all deserve the worst that can come to them.

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago

No they don't. They fall over themselves to lick between a fat crusty pedo's toes. Gimme a break here...

Even if they did manage to have a thought, Shitler just has to call them some childish schoolyard bully names and they'll get back on their knees.

Every single Republican and Republican voter think he's their golden god. 🤮🤮🤮

[–] aarch0x40@piefed.social 4 points 15 hours ago

Finally, some Republicans come to their senses. It's likely best for their political futures not to be a part of the genesis of a pedophile fund.

[–] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

Yeeesss. Eat each other. Dooooo it.

[–] JackiesFridge@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago

No they don’t.

[–] ruuster13@lemmy.zip 1 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Why are we ignoring the 1776 dog whistle?

[–] Steve@startrek.website 3 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Because what the fuck does it mean and how could it possibly be worse than the face value?

[–] ccunning@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

Does 1776 even count as a dog whistle? No one raised in the U.S. is going to see 1776 and not know what it’s a reference to and it’s not even anything controversial.

If they wanted a dog whistle they’d have gone with 1488 (like my HOA’s annual dues this year 😡). I’d be surprised if they didn’t discuss it but decided theycouldn’t stomach the smaller amount.
