I didn’t buy it because of the PvP, but I still liked the idea if they ever added a purely co-op mode. I’m glad I never bought it. Denuvo is malware.

That's been my hope too. I don't have time og energy to get fucked by people in pvp. I just want a fast-ish paced pve exctraction shooter.

Have you looked into Grayzone Warfare?

[–] MBech@feddit.dk 1 points 4 hours ago

That looks good, will have to try it!

Might be a strange suggestion, but there's an excellent mod for Escape From Tarkov called SPT (singleplayer tarkov), which allows you to explore the entire game with additional mods offline. There's even a mod called Fika that lets you run co-op with other SPT players if you want to play with a buddy.

So if you want a PVE extraction shooter experience that you can customize and play offline, that's an option. It's not official though.

I've tried that, but it feels too clunky. I'm not really the mil-sim type. It seems really well made though.

It's not official though.

I received an email saying I got banned because they detected I was "using external tools". It doesn't matter as long as I don't wish to play online again, but could be an issue otherwise.

Probably could go through steam, they grant refunds if the terms of sale are changed like this (Helldivers 2 and COD are examples)

At this point I just stay away from PVP, PVE, MMORPG, or anything thay requires me to connect and play with others.

Part of it is the number of bad actors. Another part is I just like having non-toxiv gaming time. I miss when single-player experiences were the norm.

"Extraction shooter"

You "griefers wet dream".

That would suck. I play on linux with my friends...

FWIW they did like A/B testing using Denuvo and EAC in The Finals and no one on Linux had issues playing because of the anti cheat, so I’d be hopefully optimistic that it’ll be the same.

[–] Truscape@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

The team has interest in maintaining linux compatibility (the Finals never locked people out on linux after they added kernel level anticheat for windows), so I suspect this will be more of the same.

[–] eleijeep@piefed.social 8 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I thought Denuvo was copy-protection. They do anti-cheat too? Really?

[–] Wildmimic@anarchist.nexus 7 points 11 hours ago

Denuvo is not a copy protection in a classical sense, it is an anti-tampering technology, therefore well suited for preventing cheating.

[–] homes@piefed.world -1 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

No worries. It should be cracked in a few days.

It's not the DRM portion being used (article addresses that)
