Visually, it doesn't look very cyberpunk (no neon lights in the rain at night) but it's about a detective and her android partner tracking down an android who appears to have free will. So thematically, it looks like it might be cyberpunk.

Definitely seems like an inspiration. I agree though, this isn't exactly a unique premise. The Antonio Banderas movie Automata also has the same plot. But Automata has more cyberpunk visuals than Mars Express.

What is Cyberpunk?

Cyberpunk is a science-fiction sub-genre dealing with the integration of society and technology in dystopian settings.
