I think almost all countries recognize Taiwan including the US
There are only 11 countries that have official relations with Taiwan. Almost all other countries either clearly think it's a part of China, or have an ambiguous position towards it. Most western countries are in that last group.

Because Trump finished high school before the Chinese Cultural Revolution, and has been called by one of his college professors the dumbest student be has ever taught.
Add in dementia and I really believe Trump has no idea what Taiwan is apart from a word he recognizes and, with preparation, can barely distinguish from Thailand.
