Piracy is good and you should do more of it. Try https://everythingmoe.com/ for streaming, and https://nyaa.si/ for torrents. Piracy is the only means of digital protest that audiences have to fight poor worker treatment.

I bought Crunchyroll for a year because it was like 3usd for me but I'd recommend using Nyaa for anime. It's simply the most reliable source.

I've used nyaa for many years. I never even knew about animekai because I've never felt a need to look elsewhere for anything.

Torrenting is definitely superior to streaming, the torrents always have a higher quality than the bitrates the streaming sites put out.

I generally prefer torrenting over streaming but not for anime.

I'm getting through some old series with 50+ episodes/season and can get through 8 episodes of a show on weekdays and 24+ on weekends.

I don't want to have to house that many episodes of many different series on my hard drive for something I won't rewatch. Rewatched shows I'll gladly torrent.

I basically never rewatch shows which is why I stream stuff.

I can't get over how dogshit everything about crunchyroll is for a fucking PAID SERVICE

I highly recommend that people use the built-in RSS feeds in Nyaa, which automatically generates RSS feeds^[These are accessible via the "RSS" option in the top menu] for a user or a search (or a search within a user, which is what I tend to do—this is what happens when you click on an uploader's name and then perform a search). It makes it really easy to set up automatic downloads for specific releases; qBittorrent has this functionality built-in and lets you further filter the results. I basically just set it up once at the beginning of the season and then the episodes roll in as they're posted.

Damn, it's been a bad like 6 months or so to be running an anime piracy streaming site

Japan’s CIA is only good for one thing apparently

I prefer intelligence agencies wasting their time fighting digital piracy than doing worse harm to people...

Rawr! Here's me and Comrade Cuddles last Halloween. He gives the best hugs... even though he's a Maoist and he can be a bit of a sectarian crank.

This is the leftist bear website, aren't we all Commie Bears of some kind? I like to think I'm more of a Soviet Bear than a panda, but Comrade Cuddles thinks it's funny when I dress up as a panda to match himbs. Maybe next October I'll find him a teddy sized grizzly bear suit or brown bear ears and we'll dress as matching Soviet Bears...

Must be NorthC in Almere. It didn't burn down, but there was a fire last Thursday. They are waiting for a critical component (delivery delayed) for their redundant power delivery, so lateron they can switch back without outages to normal power delivery from the national grid. The component is expected today and the datacenter powered up tomorrow according to NorthC as technicians will work round the clock once the component is in to get things back to normal.

Source in Dutch

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago

That datacenter might be going back up but AnimeKai have a message telling people to backup their lists because they can't recover from this.

yeah whatever happened also affected non-anime movie / show sites as well, same message appears.

So what's the 2nd largest anime streaming site?

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Animepahe.pw is where many are gravitating but I personally like https://reanime.to/ for the UI
