I don't think there's any 'about' here. It absolutely has broken down. And, if Israel has anything to say about it, it will never recover. Israel has gone from apartheid to genocide, within living memory (there are very few left alive, but still living memory) of the genocide the founders of Israel went through themselves.

Every single Israeli involved in this war grew up hearing about the genocide of Jews and they learned nothing.

Worth noting that the founders of israel are very specifically not the folks that endured the Holocaust.

Holocaust survivor families in Israel endure disproportionate risk of crippling poverty, having their languages banned because yiddish sephardi and other historical jewish languages are seen as low class compared to hebrew, and most shocking to me when I found out, being called 'Soap' by other jews in Israel.

Israel isn't the state of refuge, it's the state of that cousin who sees you get racially profiled and uses it to catapult their own online celebrity status.

There are also the two terrorist organization that are the base for the IDF, they literally massacre villages and created a resort on top of it.

And the arab jew, specially the Yemenian Jew, who their kids got taken from them when they arrive to Isreal.

And even last year or the year before black jew from Ethiopia got their status revoked or something.

Israel mistreats and abuse Holocaust survivors too. Fascism has no good side.

Israel has gone from apartheid to genocide, within living memory (there are very few left alive, but still living memory) of the genocide the founders of Israel went through themselves.

Israel has been genocidal from the start. It's just faster now; in 1949 there was the Nakba and then there was the whole settlement business.

There's a bit of comment in your anti semitism

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@kbin.social 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

You could actually state where I'm wrong (hint: I only stated proven historical facts).

[–] cozz33@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Ya got the date wrong. Nakba happened in 1948 when multiple Arabic nations declared war on Israel after they announced their independence.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@kbin.social -1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Setting aside the legitimacy of Israel as a state, why does that mean they get to ethnically cleanse half the Palestinian population?

[–] cozz33@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Where in my comment did I say that lol

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@kbin.social -1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That's the implication, at least. Because "they declared war first so they deserved it" is a popular position among Zionists.

If that's not what you meant, then while the war was declared in 1948, the Nakba started in earnest when Israel started beating back the Arab states in 1949.

[–] cozz33@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

If you declare war and lose, you can’t just go “lol oopsie we didn’t really mean it” and expect nothing to happen. When has the loser in any war not experienced repercussions?

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@kbin.social 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Usually we expect the civilians not to get ethnically cleansed, but oh well.

[–] cozz33@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

So what would have happened if the Arab nations had won? Do you not see the irony here? The Jews paid for the land legally before declaring their independence. This is fact I can back it up with evidence. Muslim rulers were scared of the possibility of a majority Jewish nation because of how horrible Jews were treated under muslim rule. I can provide a list of all the massacres and pogroms committed against Jews in muslim countries throughout history. The list is staggering. Jews were classified as dhimmi under muslim rule and had to pay an extortion tax as well as being barred from using several of their own holy sites. You can’t attempt an ethnic cleansing on a people and then when it fails cry “ethnic cleansing!” when they return the same behavior they’ve been dealing with for 1000s of years.

Turns out the four horsemen of Revelation belong to the IDF. War, pestilence, famine and death ride and Likud hold the reins.

[–] crazyCat@sh.itjust.works 17 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It’s a heartbreaking travesty

[–] roastedDeflator@kbin.social 10 points 2 years ago

Just heartbreaking.

[–] OldWoodFrame@lemm.ee 13 points 2 years ago (1 children)

2 million people in the Gaza Strip and I think I saw 80% are displaced. It's like the entirety of Phoenix being forced out of their homes.

[–] girlfreddy@lemmy.world 16 points 2 years ago

And prior to Oct 7, 50% of Gaza's population was children.

Never believe Israel when they say they didn't kill children.

I know there is always something not dissimilar to this going on in the world - Sudan, the Uyghurs, Myanmar just to name a few right now, but given Israel and its proclivity to scream that if you criticize them for genocide, you’re anti-Semitic because of the genocide that their ancestors endured, is some pretty crazy mental gymnastics and gaslighting at its core.

If “we were genocided” is your go-to rationale for why you can’t ever be criticized for anything and deserve sympathy until the end of time, then maybe don’t do genocide.

[–] alienanimals@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

Religious zealots have been fighting over a fairy tale for hundreds of years. This isn't the 'breakdown' of society. It's just business as usual for the brainwashed.

[–] Rapidcreek@reddthat.com -1 points 2 years ago

It's bad you know. Murder, rape, starvation...all the worst of mankind on display.
